Does anyone have tips on how to do the Volcano bit? I've figured that it's probably not random, although I still die regardless of where I try to go

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Make sure you have the missile upgrade by the time you get to the volcanoes. When you do, make sure you park yourself near the top left hand corner of the screen and mash the shoot button. Your missiles should protect you from being hit from underneath, while your normal fire will protect you from getting hit from the front. It took me a few attempts to figure out, but it works every time now.

I've played hours of Twinbee compared to this, but I have no doubts that this is the harder game. Although, if you have the right power ups, you can make things so much easier for yourself in both games.

Whereas I was able to complete it flawlessly on my Megajoy, this is damn hard on the 3DS. I do have a couple of issues with this re-release, mainly due to the package. I have a lot of difficulty seeing certain elements of the game on low brightness, mainly the star background and certain fast enemies. I can pump up the brightness, but I my eyes are sensitive to bright screens, so it's a little inconvenient.

The thing that annoys me the most is that the black borders around the screen are the same colour as the black background in the game. This has lead to to a lot of deaths where I have been zoned out on the left side of the screen, just to be blatted against some piece of scenery I didn't realise was close close to the screen boundary. Definitely not so much a flaw either, but at least some border would have prevented a bit of convolution in these instances.

Finally, the hidden 1-up at the end of stage 2 only seems to like to trigger about 25% of the time for me, which I don't remember from my previous play sessions of this game at all.

It's good though.
