I wonder if there's still a chance that Konami might release the original Contra on the 3DS Virtual Console. I'm glad that they gave us Super C for all 3 VC-enabled consoles (Wii, 3DS, Wii U). The sequel has it's advantages, but it just doesn't replace the original one with the awesome music and level designs. Due to unknown reasons, it didn't see the light of day on the Wii VC and I hope they would finally decide to bring it, now through the 3DS/Wii U eShop.
@Ralizah DS games are not to be expected due to being only one generation behind.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't pay much attention to your post, but I was talking about Contra on the Virtual Console and I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a physical copy of Contra 4. If I do, I hope it's not too expensive.
@Ralizah DS games are not to be expected due to being only one generation behind. It's like saying that Wii titles should be released on the Wii U VC. Maybe on the next system(s).
He never said anything about VC. He told you to get Contra 4, which is a DS game and thus can be played directly on your 3DS.
@KeeperBvK Oops, I edited my post. I guess having Contra 4 would really solve the problem. Thing is.. if they did release the original, you would only pay $5 or €5 for that game if it's all you wanted.
Another question could be if the versions of Contra and Super C found in Contra 4 support multiplayer at all. And if so, each player needs his own copy of Contra 4 i assume.

They don't support multiplayer at all, unfortunately.
It's a shame they could put it as an extra on a DS game, but can't somehow figure out how to put it on the VC. One of the greatest games of all time, and it's being skipped.

The obvious downside to the arcade version is that it uses a tall monitor. While there is an option to play with the DS sideways, then you have awkward controls.
(I'm surprised neither the DS nor the PSP copied the WonderSwan's idea of two sets of D-pad buttons, allowing the other set to be used as gameplay buttons.)
