I plan on getting the New 3DS, but I still wouldn't agree with this. It would be a huge backhanded slap to anyone who doesn't have $200 to buy a brand new 3DS, even though their current one is less than 3 years old. I don't support that kind of treatment to consumers. The New 3DS should offer an enhanced gameplay experience, but it should not offer experiences that are altogether unavailable on the old model.

That said, I would love to see SNES and GBA VC games on 3DS.

GBA VC games coming to any 3DS console would be a huge slap in the face to anyone on the Ambassador program so I think that should stay exclusive to them on portables. SNES I'd be fine with though.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the ambassadors have had GBA games all to their own for over 3 years. Its about time other people got those games.

I have no problem if ambassadors get the upgraded versions of the VC games for free, but its time other 3DS owners had a chance at these games. Nintendo is losing money trying to keep a small group of fans who bought a system early happy. It's been three years and those games are on the Wii U. NES games came out to all 3DS owners years ago. It's time GBA games joined them.

Agree with the above, im an ambassador as well, and really, who gives a s5it, it was 3+ years ago....I don't think Nintendo cares either, nor should they.

M2 emulated the GBA Wii U VC titles, the same guys who did an amazing job with the SEGA 3D classic titles on the 3DS.

Only the Z80 component of GBA software, a processor which was occasionally utilized mostly for sound in GBA software (And to enable backwards compatibility), is emulated on the 3DS. Even that may not be happening here since apparently most GBA games didn't even use the Z80. Nintendo may of picked software that didn't require Z80 emulation and skipped implementing it.

The ARM7 component of GBA software, whose code runs natively off the single core ARM9 processor on the 3DS, isn't emulated.

That's also why every DS had the capability of playing GBA software. The only limitation that prevents it on the DSi and the DSiXL is the absence of a physical GBA cartridge slot that allows you to interface GBA software with the system and the lack of the GBA boot option within the system's OS. That disappeared to cut production cost and save space as GBA compatibility decreased in importance enough to where retaining it was more of a hindrance than a benefit.

But the guts that ran the code was still there and it remains so today on every 3DS.

For all those saying the Ambassador Program gave exclusive GBA titles to those early adopters, as one of those Ambassadors I find I don't even bother playing these GBA ports. They don't allow sleep mode, they don't have VC features such as Save States (which honestly I've come to enjoy because I can't marathon game like my childhood days), and even the image quality is horrendous.

I'd much rather Nintendo break the three year old Ambassador rule and do it right than be part of the exclusive club of mediocre quality implementation.

To me the save states can be fix via update
sleep mode did not have that with the GBA
update for home menu access
the standard GBA visual output in 240x160 or 160p
they need to work on GBA for 3ds vc

Even though it's really hard for me to admit it, I have a strong feeling that Nintendo would make this GBA and SNES VC exclusive to the New 3DS, which just makes me sad. I really hope that my feeling is wrong, and if they do bring it, it'll be for both 3DS and New 3DS, but I don't see it happening (on the 3DS, it's just way too late for it).
Hope I'm wrong though.

So play on, play on, play on...

No, it wouldn't. What self enititled person would think that getting over £100 worth of free Virtual Console games years early is not enough of a bonus? So much that you actually think that someone else being able to purchase these titles is a 'slap in the face'? The self-entitlement is astounding.

Besides, the games are incomplete anyway.

What a load of crap. The VC GBA games released in the Ambassador program are exactly as they were on the GBA so that would make them 100% complete. I have played quite a few of them on my 3DS and on my GBA Micro and they play identical. It is comments like that keeping which are keeping Nintendo from releasing them for fear of angering those that want optional extras bolted on to otherwise functional games. I don't need save points, just that it puts the system to sleep when I close the lid... which it does.

As for the slap in the face of Ambassadors, that is also crap. Release them for everyone, please slap me in the face. I will sooth the sting with a lovely round or two of Zero Mission, Advance Wars, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis... if they would be so kind as to release them.

Having no multiplayer for the games that have it originally counts as incomplete. And it really doesn't matter to me if it doesn't have save states or not, as long as the games that have multiplayer options are supported and the controls are mappable. And I'm convinced that it's more about Nintendo being weird about how they seem to be doing things lately that these games aren't already on the 3DS than the comments.

What controls would you need to remap? The layout on the 3DS is extremely similar to the GBA SP with the exception of two face buttons and the Circle Pad that can work as the directional.

Also, so I guess you are also saying that the GBA games on the Wii U are also broken because they don't offer multiplayer.

Again, these arguments do not hold water. The only thing I agree with is that Nintendo is buggering up the works, probably to bring customers to the Wii U.

Amazing how entitled a lot of you 3DS ambassadors act. You've had exclusive access to these games on 3DS for quite a while. Not wanting them to be released in the e-shop so anyone can play them is just selfishness at this point, pure and simple.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Why do you think the New 3DS has Super Nintendo inspired buttons? Maybe Nintendo is trying to tell us something..

My face still hurts after Nintendo slapped mine by not putting EarthBound on Wii.
(and the Wii U-exclusive Capcom games...)

I'm an ambassador and I don't understand why it would be a slap in the face if SNES and GBA games became available for the new 3DS. I got the system when I heard about the upcoming price drop and I thought I would get to pick ten NES games and ten GBA games, I misunderstood so my husband picked me up a 3DS and I couldn't figure out how to get those free games when the price did drop. It turned out I would have to wait until Decemvber and I don't get to pick the games. They were games I already have and some I didn't want like Fire Emblim or Metroid. or Yoshi. But then I figured out I could play these on the go so it's not like I wasted money and did something foolish. To this day I still haven't downloaded all my free games because I didn't want them and didn't feel like playing them. I do see the NES games in the eshop I already have from the Ambassador but I got them for free while everyone else would have to pay for them.
