Topic: GBA and SNES games on the New 3DS?

For all of us who have been waiting and hoping, perhaps Nintendo was saving GBA and SNES virtual console games for a new version of the console, to try to create more incentive to get the new version. As a reason, they could perhaps claim that they needed the improved processing power for the emulation.

And, yeah, if the new version does have GBA and SNES in the virtual console, I'll definitely get it.

I plan on getting the New 3DS, but I still wouldn't agree with this. It would be a huge backhanded slap to anyone who doesn't have $200 to buy a brand new 3DS, even though their current one is less than 3 years old. I don't support that kind of treatment to consumers. The New 3DS should offer an enhanced gameplay experience, but it should not offer experiences that are altogether unavailable on the old model.

That said, I would love to see SNES and GBA VC games on 3DS.

GBA VC games coming to any 3DS console would be a huge slap in the face to anyone on the Ambassador program so I think that should stay exclusive to them on portables. SNES I'd be fine with though.

That didn't stop Nintendo from giving away GBA games to 3DS ambassadors, despite not everyone having $250 to spend on a 3DS at the time. How is that any less of a slap in the face than allowing New 3DS owners to buy GBA and SNES games?

This might be very true actually, ......

Japan has not received a new VC game on the 3DS in about 4 or 5 months, with the exception of SEGA 3D classics, but that's not even Nintendo affiliated.

Mark my words, SNES and GBA titles on the new 3DS.....

I don't see why anybody on that program would rather keep them as they are than get them fixed. (i.e the colours / ghosting / save states etc).

That isn't going to happen unless they are going to make some money out of it.

The Ambassador Program GBA games were confirmed to not be released to the public on the eShop but Nintendo could update themn for us ambassadors and maybe release GBA games that weren't on the program and a few SNES games as my 3DS XL has the ambassador GBA games but I would like to buy more. I have been holding back from buying new GBA and SNES VC games on my Wii U in the hope that they will come to the 3DS eShop as I prefer to play games on my handhelds.

All they said were no current plans.

There is no way they are going to put any effort into them without getting money.

It would be stupid for Nintendo to keep the GBA games exclusive on the 3DS Ambassador program for much longer. It has been three years. Nobody cares if you spent $80 on early access to 10 NES and 10 GBA games anymore. You can buy the 10 NES games for $50 now on the Eshop. That $30 of 10 GBA games if just not fair. Wouldn't it be enough for Ambassadors to not only have GBA games, but to also get 10 of them for the price of $30? They managed to port 10 GBA games to the 3DS within a few months without planning, so I would not see a reason why they could not make any more for the public.

If its not on the New 3DS, then the handheld after will surely have those at the very least.

Your forgetting the reason why we don't have SNES and GBA on the 3DS is because of technical limitation with quality control. Obviously the 3DS can play GBA games, the problem is it cant emulate them with the 3DS OS running also. Thats why Ambassador games don't allow any such features because the 3DS doesn't emulate them but rather clocks it self down to simulate a GBA.

At the same time, Nintendo needs to give everyone a good reason to get the new 3DS. And calling it a backhanded slap is a bit naive too.

Why don't you have a Wii U?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Sure, I'm all for this as long as we get the GameBoy games on the WiiU VC.

they did that as an apology. the 3ds received a huge price cut 4 months into market. it a gift to the people who payed a ton more than everyone else for the same exact thing.
