Well, even though the screen looks darker, I prefer playing these games on my 3DS, which is much brighter than my DS Phat or GBA Original. And I like how big the picture is too. I never minded how the Gameboy games looked like on the 3DS, either.

Besides, if you plug in the charger while playing, the GBA games look a lot brighter.

I'd say it 'goes' fine for WaveBoy if he gets the real games.

I have Mario Kart and Fire Emblem already on a real cart, one I got 2 weeks before the drop, the other was a week or two after!(FE for $5 at the flea.)

3DS makes it handy in all one location sure, but it will never look or play 100% as right as on the real hardware. Also equally if not more important, unless the game cart dies, it's a permanent copy. The downloads aren't, eventually Nintendo will kill support, your system will then eventually die, and you're out your game...waveboy will still have his.

the only thing wrong I noticed was the start up for the GBA's RING. the real GBA RING has a longer pause before the DING where as the 3DS's one is quicker

Never really noticed much.. I like playing after I hold the Start/select button. The GB Micro screen was SMALLER than that, so no issues for me. And as mentioned, the GB Micro made the games look much more crisp and beautiful. My favorite iteration of the Gameboy Advance has to be GB Micro.

You hold down Start OR Select whilst the game is opening actually to fix its resolution. This cannot be done permanently; it msut be done every time you start it up.

I think that while the original resolution looks better, its just too small for me. I didn't like the larger screen at first but I got used to it.

I like that Virtual Console does not really "alter" the games too much. If anything they remove stuff.

Updating a game like the "3d classics series" should be separate from virtual console.

GBA games look as good as I recall and perfectly fine on my 3ds. have only played 3 of the ambassador games so far however.

Games = RUINED

GBA games on the 3DS look absolutely Terrible it's not even funny. Blown up fuzzy looking graphics with super washed out looking colors makes for one horrible experience. The best way to play GBA games is to actually get the carts and play them on your DS Lite. They look phenomenal. On the 3DS, they look hideous. If this is how they look, i will Not be buying/downloading 'any' future GBA VC releases...it's a complete joke.

I mean I fired up Mario Kart Super Circuit today on the 3DS and right off the bat i gotta nostalgic GBA kick and completely forgot how awesome SS really was and is. But this 3DS emulation is pee pee-poor. I don't know how you guys can even bother playing these GBA Ambassoder games based on the way they look....These are a complete waste of space. I'm buying the carts instead and playing them on my DS Lite. I'll get that perfect crisp and sharp resolution and super vibrant colors which are completely void with how they look on the 3DS.

Money well spent bud. But you clearly don't mind butchered emulations with blown up crappy graphics and piss poor washed out colors...I mean hey they're free right? But the experience is extremely botched, at least for me so why waste the time and even bother.

EDIT: Just tried the Start + Select to get Mario Kart SS at it's normal resolution. Now it looks better, too bad the screens tiny and the colors 'still' don't look as vibrant and colorful when playing it on the DS Lite. Free games may be free games, but i don't care if the product isn't up to snuff based on how it should be. The Nes VC games are fine though, but I'd rather play them on the Wii's VC anyways.

Oh no! Free games that look like crap! Oh my!! Dude, I've had a Game Boy Advance since it launched and the games look fine to me on the 3DS. I don't get why you wasted your money on the carts. You gotta remember that the 3DS has a much higher resolution and a bigger screen than the GBA did, so of course the games are gonna look blown up. Why waste the time? Because they're a gift to us from Nintendo without extra charge

What happend to gameplay > Graphics? Sure it may not be the perfect clone image wise. I just booted up my 3DS and are taking a look at all the games now to see what the fuss is about.
I can see what the deal is....but if it's a fun game I could care less, because it's....F-R-E-E

lol They're an inferior gift that's for sure. And 'why' would I waste money on the carts? I dont know maybe because i 'collect' videogames. lol Aside from getting a brighter, more colorful, larger, crisper and clearer image when playing it on the DS Lite. It's not like GBA games are expensive when buying the cart only anyways so it's no biggy. I'm no graphics whore by any means but this is just pissing on the actual product...But it's not Nintendo's fault considering the 3DS's resolution is higher, but the weaker color i don't understand. But hey it's free, if you are enjoying it that's all that matters.

When a game isn't as colorful, vibrant and bright as it's supposed to be that alone annoys me. That alone makes a big impact on the experience, aside from the proper resolution which obviously matters too, to me any many others. Anyways I could care less, i'm not complaining or anything after all they are free...I just wont be buying any future GBA VC titles that's all. big whoopy. It would of been nice though if we could of had a supply of free Gameboy VC titles instead to download. Either way i would of been perfectly fine with nothing.

That aside, the NES Ambass' games turned out solid, could be a bit more colorful but they get the job done. Yet i still feel weird playing these super tiny Nes games on a hande held, which completely lacks the impact of playing them on the big screen. Still cool nonetheless!

Well you collect games, you want physical copies that look better. That's fine.
But I tend to enjoy gifts, no matter what it is. Maybe they saved money by not spending time to up the quality? Who knows.
If they ever put GBA games on the VC maybe the quality will improve, and we'll see an update on our shoddy emulations. That would be nice.

It's just like any other game though, the tiny itsy bitsy 3D Kirby takes serious time to get used to, at least to me. Same thing with all these games, I booted up each GBA to see how it looked, and it's not too bad to the point where I snob off and grumble to get copies for my compatible DS Lite.
I'm not really a game collector, so it's not something I would do. I just appreciate that we got 10 GBA games of all high quality that can be enjoyed just fine by the average person, and not the most finicky videophiles.

complaining that the GBA Ambassader games don't look right? Yup. Complaining overall about Nintendo dropping the 3DS's Price while early adopters had to spend more, where Nintendo then gave us 20 'free' Ambassader games to make it better?Nope. I don't care. Nintendo went all out and gave us more than what we should of gotten(Crappy GBA emulations aside hehe)I'd be absolutely fine and dandy had they given us nothing. i was not one of the million complaining during that entire little Doom and gloom 3DS piss party. lol

I'm just pointing out the flaws, i'm keeping it real dude. Besides, I was going to buy some of those GBA carts anyways that are available in the 10 Ambassader games. Wario Land 4, Zelda: Minish Cap and Mario Super Circuit are the main 3 hehe.

I hear you dude. I'm just an anal perfectionist what can I say and a tiny bit of a videophile. Knowing that i'm playing a product that doesn't look the way it's supposed to bothers me when i could be getting the real deal by spending a bit of money on ebay. It's not like i need or want to play all of those games to begin. But I'd be willing to drop $15 lets say for Mario Kart Super Circuit to get that much better color and resolution. Plus I'd have it in physical form.

As it is, this is what you get with GBA games on the 3DS...

Blown up crappy looking graphics + Not as Bright as it should be + washed out colors
or by holding 'Start + Select'.....
You get the proper-ish resolution but the screen goes tiny and you're still getting weaker brightness and colors.

Either way I'm screwed haha. Anyways! I think i may have a date with Urban Champion 3D tonight. Time to see how bad this one really is!
