that's cause rare IS known for still supporting nintendo handhelds, they made games for both the DS and the GBA, it's not out of the question that they could support either the eShop, 3DSVC, or the 3DS itself
That's like saying Master System and NES game sales will suffer since there are Super NES and Genesis games on the Wii VC. A classic game is a classic game, regardless of what system it's on.
Except most consumers can figure out the differences between a NES & SNES game, whereas for the GB & GBC the only major difference they see is color v. monochrome graphics, so many consumers would go "well that GB game doesn't have color graphics, so it must be worse than this GBC game," leading to drops in sales in GB games that consumers would've purchased if there weren't GBC games available as well.
Also, the eShop has only been around for roughly 5 months, and we've already gotten about, if not more than half of Nintendo's AAA GB titles. Do you want there to be no VCH games to be released halfway through the 3DS's lifetime, as opposed to the end of the Wii's lifetime? Come Christmastime you'll be too overloaded with awesome 3DS games like SM3DL, MK7 and everything else to be terribly concerned there aren't many GBC games on the VCH.

I'm glad that Nintendo is taking their time with VC releases. One game a week is fine, and we've gotten some true gems so far, I just think the GBC needs to be represented better, since there are plenty of good games on that as well.
What really would help original GB releases is a "colorization" option that the Super Game Boy and GBA had.
