Topic: Game Gear or Sega 3D Classics?

The obvious answer is 3D Classics I think. Better games, better looking games, cheaper and more interest.

I still do think Game Gear has a place on the eshop, but I think the top price games need to be lowered to the middle price range to make them all cheaper than 3D classics. Its ridiculous that 3D Sonic costs less than an old untouched Game Gear Sonic.

3D Classics understandably take much longer to port than Game Gear so Sega should release a bunch of cheap Game Gear games while they are developing new 3D Classics.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I hope the eShop gets both the Game Gear version and a 3D Classicized Genesis version.

Nintendon't care, they get a cut of the profit for not doing anything.

How are those new games coming along for Sega?

Both. I've never played SEGA games when I was younger so having both on the 3DS sounds like a good idea for me.

That is because Nintendo are still able to make new games that are successful.

Sega is one of the few publishers making significant profits at the moment. (Sammy has a license to print money as well).

I would rather have e.g Border Break than anything Nintendo has made since its release.

Nintendo's new games are utter junk compared to the old ones especially if cost is taken into account. (NSMB2 vs SMB3 for example).

Most of the good Game Gear games are either just portable Master System ports or 8-bit Genesis counterparts. I prefer the 3D Classics. I have never played any of them, but could someone let me know if the 3D Classics have Restore Points and Customizable Button Layouts? If they do, then I'd put 3D Classics above GG VC games x1,000,000. I could live without the Customizable Button Layouts, but the Restore Points are something that is needed for the harsh 8-bit and 16-bit gaming eras.

While I wouldn't complain about anything going down in price, I do think it's worth noting that games typically aren't priced according to quality...

If someone feels that one game is worth a certain amount of money to them, they'll buy it. What the other games happen to cost is irrelevent.

When I heard about Sega 3D Classics I was curious yet sceptical about how well they’d work in 3D considering their age, however I downloaded 3D Streets of Rage today and thought it looked incredible. Just the title screen alone looked stunning. As much as I enjoy that series anyway the 3D has injected a new lease of life into it for me. I hope they go on and create 3D Streets of Rage 2 as I think that was the strongest title in the series.

Although I appreciate that a lot of people like the Game Gear / Master System titles I personally am more excited to see future 3D titles. Some more classic Sonic, Golden Axe and some Splatterhouse really wouldn't go amiss.

The Sonic 3D is classic is quite buggy. No music when I tried to start it yesterday for whatever reason.

Labyrinth Zone Act 3 the jumping part is much harder than it normally is.

Slowdown in one of the Zones after that for whatever reason.

And yet I didn't have any of those issues. Strange.

unless you have some nostalgia for a game gear version of the game, go with the 3d classic. if its an exclusive game gear only spin off or something then sure go for it. i hope they make sonic spinball in 3d that would kick a$$

The no music (Sound was still there) only happened once and then I restarted it and then it was fine.

There is loads of settings of which I messed with quite a bit before I started. (Then just saved every so often and then stopped playing.)

It was only one set of 3 acts I had the slowdown as well. Cannot remember whether it the last or second to last but the last boss was fine.

I had spindash off. Think I was on Japan and original Megadrive emulation. (I did try all the different settings first).

GG is a different game from the Genesis and very good in its own right. I feel it's worth picking up, though I wish they went for the SMS one instead (very similar to the GG verison, but has some differences). Not sure why 3DS doesn't have SMS emulation since it's well equipped to handle it (SMS has very similar hardware to the GG).

3D Classics Sonic doesn't seem any more glitchy than the original game. The Robotnik chase in Labyrinth Zone 3 is the same on the Genesis. I compared to the actual cart and found it to be just as tricky with all of the obstacles in the exact same places. I actually got Game Over in that area on the real Genesis with glitched Game Over words. I remember some slowdown on the Genesis cart too.
