I'd probably pick this up if it was 3 or 4 dollars, but since it's a GBC game, Nintendo will probably overprice it.

nope, here in EU it's the same price as a GB game like Mario or Kirby. Totally worth it.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Here in Japan we only get the regular Game Boy version. The GBC version was made specifically for the non-Japanese market, right around the time everything was converting solely to the GBC. We started getting the G&W games in color at #3.

Was thinking of getting this until I saw screenshots on the Eshop. Ugh. They squished the dimensions of the original versions of these games inwards and to me, they look like a total mess and are not authentic recreations of the G&W games.

I'm going to stick to the DSiware versions as they're perfect renditions of these classics and wait for G&W Gallery 4 which is the best G&W Gallery game (assuming it even makes it to the Eshop)

You're aware that this game was originally released for the game boy, right?
And that they include "modern" versions of each game?

The resolution of the GBC probably made them take that route but it doesn't change the fact that it looks awful when it's all squished up like that.

Also, what's the point of mentioning the modern versions when my argument was about the original versions? Only 2 modern versions of the G&W games are worth playing, IMO (Chef and Mario Bros.). I grew up with G&W and I buy these games solely for the original classics, not the modern versions.

The original versions are adapted to fit the system, because completely remaking them to perfection on the GB is impossible. Complaining because they aren't perfect is unfair.

Nintendo even added the modern versions to make up for that.

If you only want remakes of the G&W originals, then there's the G&W dsiware games. Why would you even consider buying a game when you only plan to play half of it?

You know you can choose whether to make it as blown up as the screenshots or to make it the original GB resolution by holding START. I don't really think that is a problem for this game.

I'm wondering if we will ever see this on the VC at some point.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Those games are mostly on collections 1, 2 and 4, so I doubt it. But it better not come on VC. That game is just plain terrible compared to the Game and Watch Gallery series...

Strange how the DSI game and watch series has ever single game from this collection, but better.

I have not played a Game & Watch Gallery game before. Which one is best? Game & Watch Gallery or Game & Watch Gallery 2?

Number 3 is the best of all of them, but at the moment, go with 2. The first one hardly has any extra content and you will be bored easily. But the second has tons of extra unlockables and goodies.
