I never played the Gameboy version so yeah I plan on downloading it. The review on this site was positive so I might as well go for it. If DD 2 ever makes it to the Wii shop as recently announced I'll get that one too.

I played it years ago on the Gameboy in fact that game is what introduced me to the Double Dragon series and I have to say that it was a good port of the NES version. The levels are redesigned from the NES version but not that much redesigned where the levels are totally different if that makes sense. Like for instance the Slums level looks like the slum level on the NES version and the forest looks like the forest level its just that there may be a pit a a group of enemies at a point where there isnt on the NES version. Overall if you liked the NES version than this one would be a great purchase for a little DD action on the go.

I think we could probably all agree DD 2 The Revenge on Nes was the best in the series right? Super Double Dragon was pretty good too though.

I dont know for me I liked Super Dragon more the DD2 but yeah its at the number 2 spot. Although I did also enjoy Battletoads Double Dragon just as much.

@ Tasuki Ah Battletoads! Now there's a game series that shouldv'e come to VC. Pity Rareware owns it and wouldn't even consider letting Wii owners have it. Nevermind the fact that Battletoads got it's start on Nes.

Anyway, its coming out in America next week (Double Dragon)
I'll be looking forward to playing this game possibly next week. If so, It will be the sixth consecutive week of a Nintendo 3DS classic game purchase (inc. 3D Classics). The last time I bought nothing classic-wise was when Golf came out on September 8.

Actually, I think Tradewest (publishers of the game) own the rights. They made a crossover game with Double Dragon.
I had a blast getting my Child hood revenge on Double D last Christmas. I'll cherish that Winter Wonderland hot cozy memory for the rest of my life... AND because i finally managed to beat the game to a pulp by my suprise. But I think I'll pass on the GB edition as it doesn't sound too different from the NES version.
MM: Dr. Wily's Revenge is an exception considering it was a different game from the NES original with sprinklets of familiar territory...At least regarding the Robot Masters(Enker Aside) and the GB-fied Chip Tunes.
I love the NES Mega Man games, and I tried to enjoy the GB version. It just doesn't compare. The stages feel too cramped (Mega Man's sprite is too big), and the sound effects are completely different. The music also isn't as good as the NES originals.
Double Dragon on GB is a faithful follow-up to the original NES game, though if I had played this on the original GB, I'd've left it aside to collect dust very quickly considering its harsh difficulty (due to its lack of "continues"); but the restore point option of the 3DS essentially saves this game. I can't help but think that early GB games were deliberately made to be virtually impossible to complete to compensate for the otherwise short length of the game.
Basically, if you're a fan of a series, you'd probably want to experience this, though if you're strapped for cash, I'd recommend waiting for one of its superior sequels to hit the Wii's VC service.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
Given the amount of people here who complain about spending 4$ on a game that lasted them half an hour and then admit they had to save state their way through, that was a pretty good strategy.
(also, the restore point feature doesn't save anything, and ruins a lot of games)

Nope Battletoads is owned by Rare. The publisher is just the person who puts the game out not the one who creates it. If that was the case Nintendo wouldnt have a problem bringing out Battletoads cause Nintendo published the first Battletoads in Europe while Treadwest published it in NA.

But a lot of the time, the publisher does own the rights to the game. Sony owns the rights to Resistance and Ratchet & Clank, yet Insomniac is an independent developer. Microsoft retained the rights to Halo after they got rid of Bungie.
