Hey guys, I was wondering the chances on seeing the original black and white Link's Awakening on 3DS VC. There are a couple of reasons it should be on there. For one, it could be a cheaper alternative to DX for people who are unsure or want to spend less money. Also, for people who want nostalgia from playing in black and white like me would want it. What do you think?

Leave Sega to release inferior ports of games already available on the same service.

No, I doubt they will.
They already have it on there in one form and I doubt they'd bother sticking it on there in another.
I'm sure some people would buy it but most people will probably prefer the DX version over this I'd say so I doubt there would be enough benefit for them to bother.

I really wish they would, though. You just get that nostalgic feeling from playing it in black and white.

Anyways... I don't think it would sell too well having the colorful, enhaced version of itself which most people who own a 3DS already bought right next to it.

I'm personally not too fond of things in black and white.
If colour is available then I'll take colour please.

Since VC releases seem to keep the glitches intact for the most part, there would be slight merit in releasing the original so that people could do the 5 minute Link's Awakening run.

They should give you the option of switching to black and white, just like the Game Boy VC Games let you switch to monochrome.

Well, both the Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis versions of the Sonic the Hedgehog games are available on the Wii Virtual Console service, if I'm not mistaken.

While personally, I'm not interested in it, I understand why purists would appreciate the option of being able to play the original version of Link's Awakening to the colourised version. I doubt that Nintendo would bother going through the trouble of releasing it though.

Different games with the same name. Not at all the same.

There are a couple downgrade ports that got released after the superior version on the VC, though, Turbografx Street Fighter and Master System R-Type among others.

Someone asking for the Game Gear Sonic games? They're the same games as the Master System, just lower resolution.

I don't think it would asking much if Nintendo allowed you to choose to run in original or GBC mode. Since clearly their VC software supports both individually.
(like how on VC, SMS games that supported the Japanese FM Unit sound upgrade will allow you to choose the sound mode (on the - button menu), and it will auto-reset the game)
As to the color dungeon, if Nintendo were to support that, you'd just need to save, change mode and reset.

I think a good move for Nintendo would be to add the Game Boy/ Game Boy Colour equivalents of all of the current VC games if they exist. They should be free updates that allow you to choose between GB and GBC upon opening. (The app logo could be both systems floating in the background - This would allow people to get whichever they prefer, and would encourage more people to buy the current games as opposed to just resenting all new releases. Anyone else agree?
