Probably.

I know there was an issue with emulating the GBA, they said it takes way more power then it should in order to emulate them properly on 3DS hardware for some reason. SNES and GBA architecture is pretty similar if I remember.

If the regular 3DS can't handle GBA games, then that is worrying. If it was an issue before, there shouldn't be any excuse for the "new" 3DS not to be able to run it now.

They have already emulated GBA games for the 3DS tho...

What I would love to see is if the power is superior enough, then if they can patch older games to run better. DoA Dimensions comes to mind.

I am not even sure the emulation is a power limitation or a marketing decision.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I don't actually know how this kind of technical thingies work, but I do have GBA games on my 3DS (the ones Nintendo gave away for free to all those who purchased the console at launch) and they work perfectly. Apart from this, I think being able to download GBA and SNES games on the New 3DS's would be a nice feature.

If I recall, GBA Ambassador games were run in DS mode on the DS's hardware that's in the 3DS? And that it's possible Nintendo wants to go all the way and add save states to make it up to par with Virtual Console standards and the 3DS can't handle that emulation. It's maybe possible to put SNES and even GBA games on the thing? All we know really is just that it's faster, but we don't know by how much. It could be a thing though. It's really interesting because Virtual Console is one of the main hooks of the Wii U, and I'm looking forward to seeing if Nintendo is willing to sacrifice that to sell a version of a console that is already doing all right.

Well, maybe. Only time will tell...

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

It would be weird if they colour the buttons like a SNES controller and don't even release any SNES games for it

I really doubt the 'old' 3DS cannot emulate GBA and SNES, I think Nintendo just want them to keep them Wii U exclusive to help Wii U sales.... I mean, people has been getting SNES emulators to run on everything from computers, to phones, to scientific calculators to even the original DS for about 10 years now
