Wow. I'm really enjoying this game. I played the original in the arcades when I was a wee tot. I don't remember it being quite this fun. The game lets you 'continue' by giving you a picture password (of sorts) after you pass each level (level one has 4 sub-levels, etc) which is a great feature because this game can be tougher than it looks! Sometimes when you run out of salt/pepper to stun enemies you have to play a quick game of chutes and ladders to get away from the foodies that are chasing you. Anyways, just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Loving this, I give it a 7/10 as far as VC games go on the 3DS. It would have been better in color. Why aren't they releasing these in color, just curious? On a 3D system you think they'd wanna give us "the best" versions of these portable classics. Even if they 're-colored' them that would be sufficient enough for some to buy these games. I just buy them because they're retro and I love playing them like I did in the old days on my Gameboy.

They could give us the colour versions - but that would be more difficult for them, and putting only GB games on the eShop forces us to buy only them if we want something. I still think they should add updates so that (for any game for which it applies) the GBC version is also playable (choose between GB/GBC when you open it). I'm getting bored of the continual GB releases (I've bought 6 atm), so I'm going to make sure I dont buy many more until they finally decide to get GBC on there. As a Dragon quest fan I'm obviously holding out for DQ1+2, DQ3, DQM, DQM2 :3

As for BurgerTime Deluxe, it looks ok - But as I said, I'm not going to be buying it without colour

I've bought every single 3DS Virtual Console game to date and am loving them all so far. Just because it's not in color wouldn't detract me from buying them, I love retro titles, and most of these I already owned or played on my Gameboy back in the day.

But it would be nice to be given the option. The colour itself isnt so much the problem for me as the fact that they just arent putting on GBC games. There are lots of GBC only games I'm really wishing for soon on the VC.

I wonder WHY they aren't, though? I can't wait for Minish Cap, I hope Nintendo gives that game to us as part of our GBC games coming toward the end of the year. I own Minish Cap but it's in storage with my old GBC at the mo' and I can't find it

There is no color version available. There are NES and arcade versions available obviously but nobody is releasing NES or Arcade games on the 3DS VC right now. Also, the BurgerTime available on the GBC has a Flintstone's license so they're not going to re-aquire that license just to release that game.

On a 3D system you think they'd wanna give us "the best" versions of these portable classics

What you're wanting is what they're doing with 3D Classics. And actually they don't want to give us "the best" version. They just want to release their old Game Boy games since they exist.

Even if they 're-colored' them that would be sufficient enough for some to buy these games.

They only take the original ROM and put it up on the Virtual Console e-shop. They don't do anything else. I don't think Nintendo allows them to make major changes.

I'm getting bored of the continual GB releases

I think we'll see GB releases for several months to come yet. I think once publishers have released their entire b&w GB catalog that they'll move on to releasing their GBC games.

As a Dragon quest fan I'm obviously holding out for DQ1+2, DQ3, DQM, DQM2 :3

But with Square Enix not showing any interest in supporting the 3DS Virtual Console, it could be a long time for you to wait.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I assume you meant GBA games, but YES ME TOO.
Minish Cap is my favourite Zelda game, and I need a good reunion

Not my fault if the truth isn't that pleasant or optimistic.

Were this the NES Burger Time, I wouldn't even think about getting it Way too difficult ( Theme songs catchy though ). But I hear this is essentially the Donkey Kong 94' of Burger Time, with many many more levels, and somewhat easier gameplay, and an actual story, involving the Donut shop trying to sabotage you...by creating monsters out of food. It's up to you to teach them the hard way, that Breakfast ends at 10 AM.

I don't always give myself signatures, but when I do, you just read it.

If that was on the back of the box for a video game, I'd just have to buy it, no matter what the game was.

I remember playing the Nes game and getting bored with it pretty fast.
It was fun for about 10 minutes. Then I put it a real game. I doubt the gameboy version would be much more exciting.

@Link79 - Give it a little more time. It's only been out since last Thursday outside of Japan, so chances are the review should be up sometime today or tomorrow. Just be patient; the game's not going anywhere.

Exactly.

Ooh, hard to say. I actually own both. I have a NES with 200 games but I play more on my 3ds VC nowadays. I think both versions offer something different and unique to the franchise, so I actually like both pretty equally. I would give both versions the same score, a 7/10. The retro gameplay in both versions, one in color and the other in black and white or greenscale, really is something unique, funny, immersive and irritating at the same time.
