Just downloaded this today, still playing it, what do u guys think? Seems a little empty to me but I haven't really gotten that far yet. I hate how you can't jump! Argh...

I feel that the gameplay is too stiff. The whole swinging around idea replaces your ability to jump obviously, but it can leave you stuck sometimes, and only being able to fall straight down doesnt help with this. The combat's alright, but theres no way I can manage to go anywhere whilst an enemy is on screen, so it is quite time absorbing. It's not my kind of game anyway but for these reasons I dont enjoy it. The graphics are really good however. Dont like the music myself.

I'd be interested to hear comparisons with the NES version (which i loved), like is it just basically a straight port, or more like say Mega Man for GB where it's not quite a port but changed up somewhat in level design and such.

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

I remember the first time I played the NES version I was so frustrated about not being able to jump that I hated the game, but I eventually grew to love it. Honestly the ability of characters to jump in most video games is pretty unrealistic — I probably couldn't jump that high on the Moon.

I have the GB cart, and the game is different from the NES version, but it still has the same feel. If you haven't played it yet I would get it. If they ever release the GBC version at some point though, the graphics are really great in that one — used to love just watching my commando swing back and forth because it looks so realistic.

I downloaded this because for some reason I thought it looked fun... and I love it. No jumping sure makes it a strange game to play.

Games arent ever completely realistic, thats what makes them fun, which is why we play them. This game is more realistic in that you cant jump - but as a result I got tired of it when I tried it and thus wont be buying it on the eShop.

Got this today. Never played it before and didn't like the original version. Gameplay takes some getting used to as I expected. I'm thankful for the save states. I also spent about ten minutes grinding for bullets to level up and get more health by killing a guy, walking off screen then back again to make another come through the door.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

It isn't my favorite VC game, but I still found it to be a fun game. The swinging mechanic is unusual at first, but it gets real fun once you get used to it. It's also really long for a GB action game which is a nice surprise (the only other, non-RPG, GB games on the service with such length are Donkey Kong '94 & Metroid II).

I enjoyed this game. I've played the original arcade game on the Capcom Collection Vol 1 (PS2) as well as a home computer conversion back in the day so I knew what to expect control wise. This (and the NES) version have completely re-designed maps and are proably about 3 times as long as the arcade game, also there is a back-story and lite RPG elements in the GB/NES design. This starts out quite easy (compared to the arcade game and other Capcom titles of the time) but the later levels get brutal, big expansive levels, one slip with your swinging arm and you'll fall to your death. Although the bosses aren't so bad as they're mostly similar in design each time. I got through the game after putting about 6-7 hours but did resort to using restore points in some of the later platforming sections.

A couple weeks ago I decided to revisit this, to try & play through it without using restore points this time, and just a few minutes ago I succeeded!

I liked it before, but it really felt good playing through it the "right" way this time (especially considering it's old school Capcom). Once you get used to it, the grappling mechanic gets really fun, and has been stated before, the graphics & story are pretty astounding for a GB game. It is pretty easy to farm for continues, though.

I want to buy the Famicom version. (No censorship).

I liked Bionic Commando Rearmed.

Not likely to happen. When Rearmed was released, Capcom tried to release NES BC on Wii VC, but couldn't. They said Nintendo wouldn't let them and ask Nintendo why, but of course Nintendo won't answer, as usual.

Do you have a link to a source? I would like to read more about that

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Googling "Bionic Commando Virtual Console Wii" takes us right to NintendoLife's story.

I remember I personally asked NoA why (after a Capcom rep said to ask Nintendo to explain) on their forum and it was soon after locked with only a "sorry, tech support questions only" response.

Yeah, I remember that. There's really no good reason for it, but for some reason we're not getting it. Oh well, I got Rearmed, I'll at least be fine.
