Ah yes. This art style works so much better for the early FF games than the chibi thing they tried for the III/IV DS remakes. Glad to see this coming back. Would love to see FFV done like this.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Why would I want this when I could play the original NES ver-snicker
sorry, I couldn't finish that sentence
Because while the NES version is bugged, this will probably use the GBA/PSP's difficulty level (which would be great for babies, if they could read). Don't get me wrong, I'd rather play with the GBA-style, I'd just like to turn it up to a respectable challenge level.
(heh, PSP/Vita could play both styles if you bought both the PSP version and the PSN release of Origins. Though I've heard Origins was pretty buggy in different ways, I don't know if anyone's made a list of what those are, like has been done for the NES.)
The original NES version is buggy as hell and way too hard. The magic system (fixed number of uses per level of magic) is a pain in the ass and Magic Points are way better. I also agree the GBA/PSP remakes are way too easy. Don't forget these versions have aditionnal dungeons and bosses from FFIII/IV/V/VI!
I don't think there will be a release outside of Japan as there wasn't a Wii virtual console release for any Final Fantasy games outside of Japan and so far none of the Final Fantasy games on the Wii U virtual console in Japan have any localisation planned.
The four FF games that were released in official English versions originally on VC-supported consoles did get VC release on Wii. It is Wii U and 3DS where the west still hasn't gotten any.
(I wish they would've released the FF2 NES prototype as well on VC, though. )
