it isn't literally a remake, it's just very similar and likely heavily influenced by the game (Miyamoto LOVES LTTP after all).

Ok I am probably going to get burned at the stake here but can someone explain to me why toon Link is so popular? I just dont get it I mean it looks like something my 6 year old drew. I could understand if he was done Japanese anime style but Toon Link just looks horrible. Like something out of South Park.

I love the cel-shaded style of wind waker and Toon Link. Toon Link is much more expressive and full of character, personality and charm than other incarnations of Link IMO.

Surely, if Nintendo is just planning to "remaster" their work in 3D, then I'm out.

Exactly. Zelda titles with Toon Link always has that humor that really isn't in the other titles (not to say there is NO humor, but Toon Zelda games tend to have the right amount and balance).

I personally enjoyed Minish Cap and would love to see a sequel to that game. People don't believe that Minish Cap falls in line as the FIRST Zelda game in chronology- hell, my friend kept saying "Why would a handheld title fall first in the time line?" but that's irrelevant to the plot.

the hat alone confirms it is, I don't know why people think otherwise

@kk
The only reason I can think of is because it features moblins, which are supposedly Ganon's evil minions created in his own image. I still think Minish Cap was first though. Maybe NOA flubbed back in the day or the designers forgot about moblins, who knows.

They can make an excuse that Ganon took control of Moblins in OOT or something similar and now they treat him like he's Magus or something.

and Ocarina of Time was based on LTTP. So that almost makes sense. Almost.

But there isn't any resemblance between those two, either. Individual landmarks were based on their counterparts, but the overworld as a whole is completely different. Out of those three games, OoT and TP are the only ones with similar versions of Hyrule.

This article does a good job at explaining all of this.

I agree. There isn't anything wrong with the toon Link in my opinion. I truly appreciate and enjoy the cartoon Link of The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass games and I look forward to seeing another Zelda game in the artistic style and vein of The Wind Waker.

Give me more Toon Link, and make him the permanent style for the handhelds. They can continue to explore with the consoles but they've got a winning design and would be foolish to let go of it.

Honestly I think the Zelda team should take a page out of the Mario Galaxy book for Zelda 3DS. They should combine the top down perspective with the third person perspective. Galaxy seamlessly transitioned from 3D platforming to 2.5D platforming on a consistent basis, and theres no reason that Zelda should not be able to follow in those footsteps.

Personally I would love to see the story in between PH and ST. The Hero of Wind and Tetra found New Hyrule but not until they defeat Malladus for the first time - when the spirit tracks are used to lock him up. Also, it might be a good change of pace to put the boy back on foot. He's had so many different modes of transportation recently (sail boat, steam boat, dog, horse, train, bird) that going back to basics might be in order.

Anyone got strong feelings for the reveal happening at GDC 2013? I'm just dying to see a screen or anything from Aonuma.

I want it to push the 3DS's capabilities, much like Resident Evil: Revelations did.
