is it me or its different ? because im doing the first dungeon, and the map isnt like it was when i played it on nes. i even compared it to maps i found around the web, and it doesnt follow the same pattern, some rooms are totally different, or lead to other areas.
some secret heart i remember cant be found with the candle or bomb neither. (like the one, 5th tree from right close to the lake. its not there anymore.)
maybe they use a different release than the american one i had when i was younger ?
I tried the second quest, I beat the first dungeon but didn't feel like going through the whole game again. (Its also unlockable after you beat the game)

Yep that was my problem too back in the days of the NES heck even now with the GC disc I cant find myself finishing the second quest. I mean yeah stuff is rearranged a bit and its a bit harder but it still is too similar for me to get into it. Its not like Zelda 3 where you have the light world and the dark world or OoT where you have kid Link and adult Link.

I've been recently playing through the 2nd quest and damn it's hard! Once you get to the 4th dungeon it really gets insane. When it starts having those flashy balls that dissable your sword and all the walk through walls it's a nightmare. It's a good challenge but kind of a headache.

I find the words "challenge" and "headache" are generally synonymous.
I have maps for both of them, from an old Nintendo Power magazine. The 80's was surely an interesting time.
for me, the 80' means the best horror movies era, with some of the greatest zombie flicks created, or very weird stuff. like brain damage, basket case, Lucio Fulci, etc. it also has some of the hardest game titles ive seen. silver surfer was one of them, made me bite my gamepad.
Yeah the 80s wasn't loaded with penny pinching cheapskates when it came to doing nice stuff for consumers to net them in. In the case of Zelda you had the extra sheets that came with the game, and as mentioned you could get full maps for quest 1 and 2 of the title. Lots of stuff in the 80s and through the SNES 90s would give you a LOT of stuff, still some in the later 90s too like those super packages of junk you would get with some games like Lunar. Now though, they're even cheaping out and getting read of manuals (see MK or latest Madden on HD systems.) The only way it seems now to get an extra if it's not digital is to pay for it, which kind of defeats the point of extras.
