Nevermind, it probably takes a ridiculous amount of time to make a game system. They are most likely developing it now...
R&D is always staffed and funded. They don't take breaks. The successors to the Wii U and 3DS were already being developed before the Wii U and 3DS even hit the market.
Nintendo used dual screen 4 times.... what do you want them to make then, triple screen?
no i just don't want them to go back to one screen. two screens is the best thing ever and it goes so well with the clamshell design. topscreen should be 16:9 and lower screen 4:3 so there is enough space for buttons and circlepads/d-pad
something that hasn't been mentioned yet (i think) is the future strategy of nintendo to bring handheld and console closer together. they called it fusion. now i think they mainly said it would be about making development for handheld and console more similair but maybe they will also think about other things. maybe that could effect the time we will see a new handheld. maybe they will want to bring out closely to a new console and the wiiU is here to stay for a couple of years.

Given how strong their portable sales tend to be, I still think they should definitely take some sort of fusion route between the two. I still like the idea of having the portable function as the console's controller.
What about a spot a HDMI cord can plug in. That way, one could play there favorite games on TV.......Then again, that would defeat the purpose of being a hand held... But what I seriously would like is a screen that does not reflect light. That way you could play it outside without looking for a shadow to block the annoying light.

Here's a thought.
The next Nintendo handheld has a single screen, but functions as a home console controller. Using the handheld with the console, you then have 2 screens and the handheld gains compatibility with DS/3DS software, as well as the option to split the new games into two displays, sort of a reverse Off-TV Play.
Neither the console nor the handheld would require the other to access their content, but having both would open up new ways to play, as well as backwards compatibility.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

then all games using the second screen would need a tv and therefore it wouldn't be a handheld anymore. why ditch the second screen? there are so many benefits from the second screen
-Dual screen clamshell design, just like its predecessors.
-HD graphics
-Two Circle Pads
-Internet that's actually usable. The 3DS' internet is just really slow and clunky, and not very usable. IIRC, this is because of RAM, so they definitely need to increase that.
-Full Wi-Fi services, none of that Nintendo Zone crap. I want to be able to use internet anywhere that Wi-Fi is available.
-Crossbuy with the Wii U's successor, so you don't have to buy the same game twice.
-No limit on eShop demos. This was really stupid, whoever came up with this deserves to be shot.
-If possible, they should go the Fusion route and make this the home console's controller, but the way Nintendo was talking in that press conference in January, I wouldn't expect this to happen next gen.
...I wonder how that would work... a home device and a handheld fused is just so.... exotic. So would the top screen be where the TV for the wii u and the bottom would be the touch pad? I doubt something like that would be portable, which counters the purpose of it being handheld.
Hmm....What if the touch and top screen can split, so multiple game pads could connect to one top screen and then that screen can connect to a TV? It could also be reconnected, folded and tucked into you're pocket! And Walla! A......portable version of wii u....?

Four times? On the handheld line, only twice. On the console line, only once, unless you're counting the GCN-GBA connection which shouldn't count for obvious reasons.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
That we have an OoT/MM style of Zelda for it. And none of that cartoony drivvel that they seem to love nowadays. Skyward Sword had just the right amount to keep it interesting, but this new Zelda game looks like something a, literal, child would draw.
I want a new version of gamepad to become the new handheld. It will still work as a controller but it will also have some memory to store eshop titles that can be played on the go.Retails downloads and games on disc can only be played on the main console.
