There is no need to think that they are translating. Remember Reggie Fills Amie let Jimmy Fallon play with the 3DS on "Late Night" and people used 3DS systems at E3 earlier this year and so it is highly likely that 3DS systems could already be in docking bays here in the United States.

On the off chance this tweet is legit, it'd be absolutely idiotic for Ninty to release in Japan before X-mas and not in the States. Xmas is so much bigger here.

My way of thinking was once that there's no way 3DS is coming this year. Now, the more I think about it, the more I thinkl it might actually come this year......

So I did a little bit of "quickie" research yesterday to look at release dates of the most recent consoles and discovered this:

I was kinda digging the trend, but then I was like, duh! the 3DS is obviously a portable and maybe I should be looking at the release dates of the portables. So here they are:

PSP = March 24 2005
Game Boy = July 31 1989
Game Boy Pocket = Sept 3 1996 (was it really that much space inbetween them?)
Game Boy Light = April 14 1998
Game Boy Color = Nov 18 1998
GBA = June 11 2001
GBA SP = March 23 2003
GB Micro = Sept 19 2005
DS = Nov 21 2004
DS Lite = June 11 2006
DSi = April 5 2009
DSi XL = March 28 2010

What did I learn from all of this? Absolutely nothing. Release dates on the portables are extremely inconsistant. Not really any trends here. Oh well, at least it's a history lesson. Enjoy!

Regardless of when the 3DS will launch in Japan, Nintendo of Europe have confirmed that the yellow, green and blue editions of Nintendo DSi XL will launch in the UK and Europe on Friday 8 October. As far as I'm concerned, this pretty much confirms that the 3DS won't launch in the UK and Europe until 2011 (March, probably).

OK here is the newest rumors.

The 3DS is coming to japan in november 21-23 (by pikming squad), and well normally games comes to other territories 1 year-6 months after thejapaneese release, will happend th same to the 3DS? Probably yes, as it tells me the last DS games will be released in march, so probably the 3DS will be released on march, or maybe later.

One way we can hope to speed up the North American Nintendo 3DS release date is for Nintendo fans to simply refuse to purchase any regular DS software or current DS systems (DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL) and spread the word regarding the Nintendo 3DS.

Personally, everywhere I go, if I see someone about to purchase a DS Lite or PSP I stop and inform them of the Nintendo 3DS and usually they decide to wait and purchase the 3DS.

@TokyoRed, people can refuse to purchase regular DS systems, but not games, I won't stop buying Golden Sun or Super Scriblenauts just because the 3DS release is close. I also preffer that they bring the 3DS in the 2011 perfecly, that having it in the 2010 with some flaws.

I don't think there will be any problems. The 3DS has been in development for quite a long time and I guarantee Nintendo has worked out all the kinks because they can't afford to allow a Cadillac like the 3DS to get off to a bad start. Nevertheless, I'm all up and ready for the Nintendo 3DS come November by God's grace.

I don't really care too much when it releases, as I probably won't buy it immediately. Not only will there be a launch rush (esp. if released around the holidays), but no matter how long you wait, there are always some issues that don't come up until after release (see dual layer disc issue on early Wiis). You're best waiting about 6 months anyways. By then, the more attractive 3DS Lite will be about to come out anyways, most likely. That being said, a report in the Asahi Shimbun gives the Nov. release rumor a LOT more credibility.

If It does come out before CHRISTmas that would be the likely date cus Nintendo likes to release their biggest launches right before Thanksgiving. I remember getting OoT and metroid prime and I think metroid fusion around that time!
I actually hope it comes out in March to as there are just to many games for it I want not to mention all the others I want for he Wii and dsi. Can't justify spending over a thousand dollars on videogames and new hardware!
