@nisshoku You do realize that Yoshi's Island was designed so that it would look as though it was drawn by a little kid, right? You'll never see anyone claim that the art is anything more than cute or charming, 'tis far from an intricate design. :3

Right, but you clearly didn't read what I wrote. I said that the execution is sloppy, because as you can see by looking at the images using your eyes, the edges on pretty much everything look very, very poorly done. As I said, like they were cut out using MSPaint. Haven't got a problem with the art style.

New trailer

I think this game is starting to look better. It's being handled by Tezuka, who directed the first Yoshi's Island.

I really like the background art work. No doubt that it will look amazing on the 3DS screen in 3D.

Yeah, videos and images (sometimes) usually don't say much on how it'll actually look on your system. I've watched plenty of 3G videos, they were blurry and cruddy...I have it on my 3DS now and its looks great. (not to mention a very smooth framerate, though you have to have the 3D setting off in the game's menu)

Yoshi's Island might be my favorite SNES platformer. It's either that or Donkey Kong Country 2.

Really interested to play this game, but I'm not sure how I feel about the art direction or sound effects.

The level design is a bit empty, but it looks to cartoony. I know its the point of this game but i think its a little bit too much.

Hopefully they keep it as close to the original as possible.

If Yoshi's New Island is better than Yoshi's Island DS, I will consider it a success.

To be fair, Yoshi's Island DS isn't really a bad game (at least I never thought it was). Just lacking compared to the original, and infuriating as hell due to the difficulty of the secret levels.

Yoshi's New Island being better would make sense though.

I loved Yoshi's island DS, and it was the first Yoshi game I ever played, too! It's definitely one of my favorite DS games, if not one of my favorites overall~
So I am understandably excited for this game!
