I hope it's 2014, just because there's so many games for this year anyway.

Bioshock is 10 years old. Let's play through its horrific environment and see why its so beloved!

Playing the original Yoshi's Island on the 3DS Ambassador Program will be great preparation for this.

Really can't see that happening... Not only is it a SNES game, it was one that used a special cartridge which makes it much more difficult to prepare for emulation. It's the greatest platformer of all time in my opinion, and I'd LOVE it on the 3DS, but I can't see it happening.

This new one... I'm not too excited. What I loved about the original was that it did new things, it took risks, it didn't feel like previous Mario platformers. It was a masterpiece. When people say they want the old Nintendo back, it's like Nintendo think we mean we literally want those same games. No, I want that creativity back! I loved that game, but for what it did at the time. I don't want something that looks like it's going to be more or less the same game. I want that same creativity, and the willingness of Nintendo to try something new.

Is this a remake or a different game in the same sort of art style/format?

This right here.

I just realized something. The art style in this game looks like the art style in the opening of the first Yoshi's Island.

Very close... almost remake like!

Ugh, the art style is so ugly compared to the original. This could have looked so beautiful in the hand drawn style.

I agree. The pixel art SNES style just looks great, and even comparing both I still think the one from ~20 years ago looks better.

I prefer the old style but Yoshi is the only example that doesn't look that good imo . Everything else genuinely does a good job at being the SMW2 opening graphics but as fairly modern gaming graphics.

When this game will be released soon, is there news about the release?

I hope that this doesn't end up like New Super Mario Bros. where it doesn't become so "new" even though you put "new" in the title.

Backloggery. Now playing: 3D Dot Game Heroes, Donkey Kong, EarthBound Beginnings, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+.

this is what I thought as well.

this game looks like it still has personality, and non-boring art, and it just looks more fun in general. Which helps a lot, though I am expecting it to not be too different from the original...which might not be a bad thing as every single new idea in the DS game was really bad.

I like the new art style. I prefer the original slightly better, but I think that it made a nice transition to a newer feel. I can understand why people might not like the new one, though, because it's very different.

Also, the music. How are more people not praising the music?

@kksilder Not even the enemy gallery? (Correct me if that was in the original as my knowledge of it is vague at best)

I love the art style. It feels a lot like the original DKC games.

I personally thought many new ideas from Yoshi's Island DS were good. Like the battle in freefall in world 5, the aforementioned museum or... some other stuff I guess.

Also, has anyone seen this on the official fact sheet?

Throughout the game, different worlds feature a variety of art styles, including oil, watercolor and crayon.

Seems like the art style from the screens won't be the only one...

The art style may be completely different but at least the charming music and gameplay will still be there!

After watching the trailer on the eShop with the 3D on, I feel a lot better about the artstyle. It looks great in 3D and obviously, it's not as blurry as the trailers make it out to be. I think it would be awesome if each world had a different art style, like one in pastel, one in watercolor, and so forth.

Graphically it looks pretty strong in my opinion, but it also looks pretty safe! The only new things I saw where the gigantic egg, and Kamek using a gigantic hammer to turn a baddie big instead of his magic wand! But we'll see!

The graphics style certainly wasn't a safe choice for this game.
And heck, for Artoon/Arzest, this game is surprisingly daring, considering how 'vanilla' much of Yoshi's Island DS was and how it seemingly just treated the first game like a bunch of steps to be followed exactly.

I hope this turns out great...I mean...I enjoyed DS...but...it was pretty much like what the "New" Mario games are going with. >.>

So this is made by ARTOON?! Oh, I can see it now that not many people will like it! Yoshi's island DS was also made by ARTOON, right? I liked it, it had actual difficulty, but I seem to be in the minority!
