Topic: YMMV: Target price-matching their erroneous SSB tweet for $34

I was able to get three copies price-matched for $34 by showing guest service a screenshot of the @Target tweet. This stacked on top of the $5 giftcards from preorder cards. Now your success will likely hinge on the particular store/employee policy and discretion. That said, they SHOULD price-match the tweet as it is a legit advertisement (from a company largely relying on social media to spread the word about deals) even if in error. If you live near enough one or more Target stores, I would give it a try. You could also attempt a price-adjust if you already picked up a preorder copy (to keep you $5 gift card).

Check the tweet here.

I should've clarified that it was $34 EACH...

Actually it was $24.50 + tax for two copies and about $29 + tax w/$5 gift card for the other. That's by price-matching all three with preorder cards, using 2/3 of the resulting giftcards on two, and including employee (.10) + Redcard (.05) discounts.

Pretty slick if I do say so. I was thinking about digital versions of SSB, but I figured I'd give price-matching a shot since I had accumulated three preorder cards from stacking various Target sales ($$$ off w/$1 preorder). Once I saw that tweet, I knew I could likely get an employee to honor the price and, indeed, it was entirely painless.

And that is precisely why I will probably never go digital.
