Xenoblade chronicles is hard to find as I have come to notice. I found new copies for about 45 EUR and was really thinking about a purchase. I think that shuch games are played best on the big screen and not on a handheld. But then I have read about the controls of this game especially that its played best using a classic controller and that wiimote+nunchuck was not the best option. That got me thinking, should I buy another controller for it? - thats crazy, I have got the game pad, the pro controller, yesterday I got the wiimote+nunchuck (not to mention that all of these use a different way of charging) and then I should buy another controller just for one game (admittedly the controller would be probably useful for other games as well). And then I checked that its actually hard to get, almost impossible or overly expensive...

So I was thinking maybe I should pass this game, save the money, buy something else and wait until its released on the new 3ds. What do you guys think? - btw did anyone play this game using wiimote+nunchuck? is it really that bad?

Remember, the graphics will be scaled back on the N3DS port and the music probably will be too. It's really a console game, so I recommend getting it there, especially if you are in Europe, as there are many more copies over there. (It's back up to $80-$90 in the US)
I've never played with the nunchuck, but I'd still recommend getting a classic controller pro. It can be a junk 3rd party one, as there isn't that much precision involved. You only really need it for camera controls, but it also makes it easier to reach all the buttons at once.

Check in for new sheets every Monday. There's lots of Fire Emblem arrangements coming.

I've played the whole game with Wiimote and Nunchuk, and I don't see a problem with the controls. I say just go for it.

Currently playing: Smash Bros. 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles, Alpha Sapphire.

Thanks. Just btw I heard the games consists of a bulk mmorpg-style gameplay. Would you agree with that?

I'm in a similar position of wanting to buy the game but not knowing which version.

I think I'll probably wait and see what the reviews for the 3DS version are like. I don't think it's clear, until you play it, how much the graphical changes will be an issue.
What I would say is that buying it on a regular New 3DS, rather than an XL, is probably a big mistake. The views and camera angles in the game are pretty epic. You need as big a screen as possible to play it.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Definitely! I bought myself a 2ds and I like it, otherwise I would have bought a 3ds XL if the new 3ds hadnt been announced. Of course I am gonna get the XL version.

Right now, I think I will pass on xenoblade. Maybe I will completely pass on it, wii version or 3ds version. The thing is, I am not sure if this game will be to my liking. I was never big on JRPGs. I like chrono trigger, bought myself radiant historia (havent got time to play it though) and will buy rune factory frontier. But I didnt like Final Fantasy at all, dont like random encounters (OK, xenoblade doesnt have them, thats a plus). I heard that its an epic game that you can spend literally over 100 hundred hours in and that theres lots of Mmorpgs like gameplay. I am not sure if this is really for me...

I've got a 'regular' new 3DS and i'm fine with the screen size. I've seen Monster Hunter 4U run on a new 3DS and it looks great! Unfortunately, the resolution of the new 3DS XL doesn't scale, which is one of the main reasons I chose the regular n3DS. Doesn't seem much point to upgrading to the larger screen imo..

Currently playing: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Legend of Zelda: ALBW.

What do you mean the resolution doesnt scale? Did it scale on the old 3ds XL?

I'd recommend buying the Wii version and trying the game out if you are at all interested.

You've already got everything you need (playing with Wii remote and nunchuck is fine, although might have a slightly higher learning curve if you are used to "standard" controllers), and prices are unlikely to drop in the short term so you can probably try the game and then get most or all of you investment back by re-selling later if the game doesn't end up being something you enjoy.

Waiting for the 3DS port isn't a bad idea because it should be cheaper... but at the moment there is no way to know how good that port is, whether it contains any extra content, etc.

The game does have a lot of MMORPG factors - combat is non-random, enemy behavior is aggro-based, and special attacks require a cool-down period so you need to figure out how to chain together attacks effectively. But it's got epic world design to explore, an interesting JRPG story, many playable characters (and it's worth switching your main to try playing as different characters), and tons of side-quests if that is your thing.

Needless to say, I'm a big fan of Xenoblade. Take that into account when considering the recommendation.

No. The 3DS XL retained the resolution of the OG 3DS. That hasn't changed with the N3DS XL either. However, I have seen a new XL running Smash Bros. close up and it looks fine imo. Just a personal preference really... I wouldn't let it deter you from getting a New XL. There are many improvements that make it a worthwhile upgrade. Just that some older games, particularly DS titles might look a bit naff.
