Yeah, where you ring the bell and it comes. I know I can beat it, it only had about 1/10 of its life left, but it did something to kill Sharla right after I had done a Chain Attack, and so I wasn't able to revive her, and without her healing us he killed me and Reyn couldn't revive me. I hate it when that happens.

75, I think. I was 74 when I first fought him and he was at yellow danger level and I got him down to about half health, so I battled some of the nearby enemies till I leveled up hoping that would bring him back down to normal, but he is still yellow.
I can't really help on that one. I was about Level 90 when I fought him I think. I'd done most of the games side quests at that point. Also, try and get hold of Fiora's best special weapon. That's pretty awesome in chain attacks.
I beat him, but now I have one more question. When you go up the portal to the top of Prison Island, do you have to do the rest of the game in only one sitting? I've gone up a couple of times and fought Dickson but died on his second part both times. I know I need to level up some more because most of my attacks simply miss him, but it doesn't let me save up there, so if I have to beat him and then the final boss too (plus whatever else may be up there) in one sitting because it won't let me save, then I am going to have to waste a lot more time leveling up a lot more before I go, which is going to be a pain. Plus I usually don't have the time or desire to spend that much time playing a game in one go. Why won't this game just end already?!
Isn't the game always giving you a boss that's your current level + 1? Or are the levels fixed throughout the game? I forgot to test the last time, and am playing through it on my gamepad again and started to wonder. I always thought early grinds are almost useless because I had this thought...
No, the boss I'm on now is level 80 and I'm 76 (was 75 when I first fought him). I don't know if they are entirely set or not, but it is definitely not just +1.
@Xyphon22: ah I see. Some browsing on the mighty internets revealed that there is indeed a fixed leveling system for all the story bosses.
There are a few giants on the bionis leg though I probably won't even touch after finishing it twice and grinding to a similar level with a party I really know lol.
@Xyphon22:
When the question appears, are you sure you are ready and want to proceed? You will have to finish the rest of the game in one sitting without being able to save the game untill you have beaten it.
That means beating Dickson aswell in the same "sitting"
I finally beat it last night. Thanks for all the help, everybody. Quite frankly, I'm mostly happy just to finally have it done with, but it was quite a fun game (although I still liked The Last Story better of the Operation Rainfall games).
