But wouldn't that make it easier to compete? Because now they're trying to appeal to the very same crowd?

Okay I guess but look at Move, yes Move sold well but how many people already had a PS3

PSP Phone =/= PSP2...

I am not so sure that they aren't the same device. Notice that the images of the alleged PSP Phone show a touch strip that serves in place of two analog nubs. If the PSP Phone was simply a PSP crammed into a phone, why would it need dual analog controls?
Overall I agree with what several people have already said. I do not really see it as a threat to the 3DS. The handheld market is a market that Nintendo has always dominated.

Well...the point wasn't to sell more PS3s. The point was to sell Moves, and they sure as hell did that. But the move is a fancy expensive motion controller, not a dedicated device like the Playstation Phone, if it even exists. (I still don't think it was even confirmed), the two aren't really comparable, you know? Though I think I get where you were going with the argument.

I just read the article, but the interesting thing to me is that the article never actually says that they aren't the same device (except in the title). Nothing in the article really supports the PSP2 and the PSP Phone being separate devices. If anything the following quote from the article actually seems to support them being one and the same.

‘‘We don't want gamers to be asking, what's the difference between that and a PSP,'' Mr. Hirai said. ‘‘We have to come up with a message that users will understand. It would have to be a product that keeps the PlayStation's strengths intact.''

The PSP phone and PSP2 aren't the same thing LOL.

Well, it'll obviously be able to compete, but it's going to take a seriously strong advertising campaign from Sony (which they're admittedly quite good at) if they're going to surpass it. People can already play games on their phone, some of which that have incredible HD graphics. No device, however, can display glasses-free 3D and play first party Nintendo games ;)

Did you not read the link? Jesus Christ, you think the devs that have the PSP2 kits would call the PSPhone "as powerful as the PS3"? The future of gaming is not in iPhones, Androids or any of that.

Yeah, I did. Nothing in that link says that they're different devices but the title. Plus, it's all speculation.

The future of gaming is in the the phone. Show me one portable game console as powerful as an iPhone 4 or HTC EVO 4G.

DID YOU REALLY JUST SAY THE PSP2 IS ALL SPECULATION? LOL. And no sorry, the future of gaming won't be on phones. Phone gaming sucks compared to actual gaming.

Not only will it be able to compete, it will CRUSH the 3DS with its mighty line-up of first party titles that are sure to keep it alive!!!

The article was all speculation. I have no doubt that the PSP2 is real, but I think it's the PSPhone.

Do you own an iPhone 4? Have you played Infinity Blade?

Do you realize that the PSPhone is a game console with a phone built in?

Yes, I actually do and Yes I have. The graphics are good, the game is ass. And yes I realize that, but that's for the PHONE MARKET, NOT the gaming market.

Okay. Have you played Chaos Rings? Infinity Blade was a bad example and may as well be a tech demo.
