I think the combined competition of the existing iPhone (not to mention the iPod Touch) and the apparently upcoming Playstation Phone could be gravely serious for Nintendo. It doesn't matter if most of us aren't interested. What matters are "the masses"...the ones who don't visit this forum. My gut feeling is they're going to choose all-in-one devices. Mobile phones killed the phoneless PDA market.

It's too late to change the 3DS. But Nintendo's first revision of it should include a phone. Put the phone on the outside and 3D dual-screen gaming on the inside. And keep it smaller and less power-hungry than a toaster oven. Good luck, Nintendo.

Lol I got a good laugh at that. I remember when each of those were released and all the hype behind it. Although I dont consider the Virtual Boy a handheld or a portable console. I have one and I dont see how you could carry that thing around.

Yeah true, but from what I learned Gameboy Micro is expensive these days and still popular. Pretty slick looking to, I've met gamers that didn't know it actually existed.

I've met gamers that didn't know the Super Nintendo existed. I've also met people who swear by the Game Boy Micro as the best portable gaming system they've ever used. There are all kinds of people out there. Personally, I found the screen to be too small, although it is nice that I could actually fit it in my pocket, but then the screen got scratches. I just stick with the SP now.

Looks promising but it will more than likely fail as a gaming device but it all depends on what games SONY decides to release for it.

Let's face it, the 3DS is going to retail for $250-300, the PSPhone is going to retail for $600. The extra $300-350 can do a lot.

I think game informer said there are 2 things coming out, psp2 which will be graphically awesome, and the rumored psp phone which will be much less powerful as a gaming device because it's also a phone. I for one don't much like having a cell phone at all, I miss when they didn't exist, so i'm obviously not sold on losing power for games to make something have phone. =)

What about the battery? Who would buy a "handheld console" if playing it for more than an hour eats up the entire battery? This thing wont be good at all unless the battery lasts for days in standby.
