To the people who say "duuuh"

Is that really necassary? Im asking this question because I know that not everyone will switch to the N3DS. Sheesh. Are people really this harsh on NLife? :/

Not everyone, just the most...loyal, I suppose. It is obnoxious, though. Like everyone's gonna upgrade. I would upgrade, but I need to save my money.

Oh thanks for the reply. It just seems a little harsh on how some people answer on here. I just think there was no need for that on here, NLife. Again, thanks.

People may take things too far, on simple jokes.
But' we're all mostly nice here.....but me

People take it too far? LOL yeah I kind of learnt the hard way.

As tempting as it is, I think I would rather wait a year or two. I'm worried not only about the cost of the system but also the cost of the games. Iwata's hints seem to suggest the games will cost just as much as Wii games. If I had any extra money, I would love to get a DSi XL to replace my lite. My current DS has a very scratched up touch screen from a short period when I didn't realize my stylus had the equivalent of a hangnail (can't think of a better way to put it). Sadly, I think I will be using my lite for a good while yet. Either way, I know I can find high-quality DS games for cheap, and I know I won't be able to do the same with retail 3DS games.

I probably won't get one until Nintendo releases some sort of "3DS Lite," or an update to the original system. I generally don't buy game systems the year they come out; I like to wait for an updated version. That, and I usually don't have enough money saved up for one until a year or two after the system comes out.

I don't think Nintendo will be keen on doing repeats of portable games, but it's inevitable.

There were 3 revisions of the Game Boy before the Advance came in, and the Advance was redesigned once.

The DS was re-did 3 more times. So yeah, hope for a redesign, but not really an exact redesign like last gen.

I think its the fact that people are not yet ready to switch to a new and more expensive library of games which is why you could wait a bit until you're ready to switch out. If, for now, you're not ready to switch then invest in a Nintendo DSi XL to replace your Lite as I did when my much loved DS Lite died out on me. Give it 2 years or 3 with your XL, if you purchase one, or use your XL until it dies out or until you're ready to purchase one, like what I'm doing.

The GBA was redesigned at least twice (GBA, GBA SP, and GBA Micro). Actually, you could say that there were four iterations of the system if you counted the brighter screened GBA SP's that were released in 2005.

No the DSi was another redesign. In terms of games it did have DSiWare and then a COUPLE of retail games but that was it so it was part of the DS series. Whereas 3DS is entirely new.

Kind of goes without saying with a name like that, huh?

I'll wait a year, I think. The 3DS looks amazing, but a price drop for games would be nice. If it ends up being an absolute must-have device by everyone's standards (particularly unbiased non-Nintendo fans) then I'll pick it up earlier.

I think there are a lot of people that might be holding off on getting one. I live in a decent-sized city and was the first to reserve it at my GameStop. And I didn't get there to reserve it until WEDNESDAY, three whole days after GameStops apparently started taking reservations. And I thought I'd have a hard time reserving it, thus creating a PlayStation 2 nightmare for me, where I got it months after release. Found it curious.

The economy isn't too great here, and something like this looks like a sign of that. Of course it could also be that nobody had heard of the reservation program, but with the internet around, nobody is that ill-informed these days. And my GameStop is in a mall with heavy traffic, so it's not the location doing slow business.

My conclusion: These are bad times for making any excessive pleasure purchase of hundreds of $. Or people are just afraid of it being Virtual Boy 2, LOL!

It is also possible that most people are waiting for the final confirmation of the system's price before reserving it. They could also be waiting on confirmation of which colors will be available at launch. They may be waiting to see what games will be available at the system's launch. There are a lot of variables to consider.

@BetelgeuseWC77 Well, the price, release date, and launch games have yet to be announced. I'd be surprised if many people have actually pre-ordered it by now.

From what I've gathered, response to the 3DS in many different gaming communities has been overwhelmingly positive. Even PSP owners are excited about it. I just think people are being smart with their money this time.

There are few benefits to being an early adopter. If you wait then the price of the system and/or its games may drop, the game library will be larger, bugs and flaws will be found, support will improve and firmware updates or hardware revisions will be released. There are no benefits for preordering it - no limited edition devices, free 3DS Point Cards or discounts that we are aware of. AFAIK there are no real disadvantages to waiting on it.

I am picking up the 3DS, for sure. The thing is, as much as I want it, I doubt I will pick it up at launch. It sounds like it will be rather expensive (I think it is still going to be worth the high price tag), and with me moving out in the Fall and going to a University, I have other priorities. Maybe i'll save some money on the side this year, and after I have settled into my new place, started the Fall semester, I will probably pick one up then.
