Topic: Will You Be Purchasing The Nintendo 3DS?

I'm very undecided about it as well. I got my DSi at launch which I love, and still play on every day. I really wanted to get a DSi XL for the larger screens but have put off getting one because I know I'll want a 3DS. But the whole reason I'm undecided about the 3DS is the bottom screen size is actually smaller than the DSi's screen and I know I'll hate it - especially when I'm already wanting a DSi XL. The idea of 3D games doesn't appeal to me all that much (I'm glad that can be turned back into 2D), but I don't want to struggle to see a smaller screen.
So I think in the end I'm going to wait until I have a chance to play on the 3DS to make my decision. If I'm not impressed, I'll get a DSi XL.

I kind of agree. It really isn't much of a difference in size (only about .25 of an inch), but at the same time I really do not understand why they didn't at least match the DSi's screen size. It isn't really a deal breaker for me, but I would have preferred the slightly larger screen.

EDIT: There are a few other things about the 3DS's design that are less than ideal, to me, including the placement of the microphone and internal camera and the glossy finish in the interior.

That's a very good choice and I know exactly how you feel about 3D gaming appealing to you. They don't really appeal to me either which is why I have my XL. I went from the DS Lite right to the XL and the screens are freaking HUGE! I mean I've seen pictures of the DSi XL and videos but I didn't expect them to be that BIG! When I flipped the DSi XL open it was a massive shock because the 4.2" screens are MASSIVE! Until you actually see it in person, it's bigger than it actually looks in videos. I can't go back to the DS Lite or DSi because it feels like playing on a console with a ridiculously tiny screen.

If I can ever gather enough money to do so, then definitely yes. That means skipping games like Okamiden and Ghost Trick though, so I might not be able to get it at launch.

I keep changing my mind about whether to buy at launch or wait. I know I'll buy one sooner or later.

No, but if the transfer of downloadable content is pretty straightforward I could see potentially upgrading to the eventual 3DS LL (mine would be Japanese, of course).

I would love you import a console from Japan as i'm a learner of Japanese but thats not going to happen for now. But what I do is import games from Japan as DS games aren't reigion locked. Im getting Tadashi Kanji Kakitorikun, a game that was made in Japan, to help me with Kanji

Is that really necassary? Im asking this question because I know that not everyone will switch to the N3DS. Sheesh. Are people really this harsh on NLife? :/

Not everyone, just the most...loyal, I suppose. It is obnoxious, though. Like everyone's gonna upgrade. I would upgrade, but I need to save my money.

There is no good PS3 bundles right now so that gives me a week to see the nintendo presentation to help me make a decision. I have a wii and love it, and a lot of the ps3 games dont appeal to me because I can just get them on my computer. But bluray would be sooooo nice!

Is 3DS backwards compatible with the DS? That will be a factor.

Yes 3DS is backwards compatible with DS games.

People may take things too far, on simple jokes.

I heard that the 3DS is backwards compatibility with DS games. Hmm. It is a very hard choice between the PS3 and the 3DS. It is up to you to make your decision as none of us can make your decision. You could just wait for a bit to see on what you decide to choose. Maybe some PS3 Bundles might come around and new Nintendo 3DS information might be released from Nintendo. It is all up to you
