Is the 3DS a DSi? Then no, no were not.

It's gonna be supported, just probably under a new name. They've already confirmed you will be able to transfer your downloaded games to the 3DS.

Instead of going back to DSiWare, it seems more forward thinking to simply let DSiWare remain exclusive to the DSi and simply do something entirely new for the Nintendo 3DS.

Uh, guys. It's already been confirmed that it's going to be supported. It doesn't matter whether it's absorbed under the 3DSWare brand or if it's another button on the 3DS Shop (like VC and WiiWare are in the Wii Shop). It's going to be available on the 3DS. And this is a good thing. Those developers who invested time and money to make games for a service that ended up largely unpromoted by Nintendo will finally have an audience with the 3DS and they will be able to make some returns.

Yeah, this has been confirmed. I'm guessing the whole point for DSiWare was to build up a large downloadable library to have at the 3DS's launch. We don't know whether it will be separately listed in the 3DS shop, but if they're allowing transfers, compatible games would certainly still be up to download by new customers.

The big question will be how long DSiWare is supported on the DSi. It stands to reason that many 3DSWare games would probably work fine on the older hardware. Since it's mostly budget games, there will be plenty that don't take advantage of 3D either. However, with differing screen ratios, etc, it will be interesting to see how long DSi compatible versions of games will end up being released, since the DSi's audience is probably quite small compared to the entire DS audience (and includes many early adopter-types, since it hasn't been out THAT long and with the exception of an online store is not that much of an upgrade).

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@Token Girl: There's also a massive power difference though which even budget games could take advantage of even it just means a smoother framerate. I think DSiware may only continue for a couple of months, a year at best. Devs will be finishing off games they already started and some may prefer to keep costs low as possible and get a slightly bigger audience.

I don't think the Super 3DS is out, let alone the Super Ultra 3DS. I don't think they've even got to the Super Ultra Nintendo yet.

Um, it was a joke. :P Also, if you'd read this thread you'd see I already posted in this thread confirming that.

The 3DS is still backward comaptible, it therefore is looking (for now) to support all types of ds gaes. It therefore follows dsiware will be supported (as has been confirmed). As I unerstand it, you can play from your sd card, wiiware style - which is a good thing. I got some games in reserve to download when I get my 3DS.
