Topic: Will pokemon be 3ds exclusive or a 3rd ds title.

A pokemon 3ds game would make many pokemon fans upgrade the ar cards could be used but the install base would be small.A ds pokemon game would have a larger install base but would not entice people to upgrade to a 3ds.What do you guys think will happen I mean emmerald came out after ds and I played that game so hard I even got to mirage Island but 3ds could enable pokemon to make the improvments it needs to like Gold/Silver did.

I would be very surprised if it came out on the 3DS. DS seems like the way to go.

I figure the opposite now that Black/White is out. Pokemon has already shifted enough DS consoles, let 3DS take over the next generation and sell a bajillion copies.

It'll come either on 3DS, or DS with 3DS-exclusive features. I have no idea if that's actually possible from a hardware standpoint, but a hell of a lot of Black/White seems to scream "THIS IS MADE FOR 3D!" And 'bridge' games in the past could acknowledge themselves being played on superior hardware, such as the Advance Shop in Zelda OoA/OoS (iirc), and the advanced palette of a few games GB and GBC-compatible (I mean like Pokémon Gold and Silver's full pallete, not the basic two-colour palette switch for putting in any older GB game).
Assuming we're talking about the will they/won't they 'Grey' version (protip: they will). If we're talking about all-brand-new Gen VI, then definately 3DS.

The next generation, yes, but it sounds more like he's talking about the so-called "Pokemon Grey" rather than a wholly new generation, unless I'm misreading something. I mean, why else would he be talking about Emerald coming out after the DS?

I'd actually be surprised if the next pokemon game is for the DS. 3DS seems like the way to go, for the reasons mentioned in the first post. Can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise, really...

I think a 3DS release is more likely. I wonder if a 3DS Pokemon would ditch sprites and turn the game into a Pokemon Stadium affair.

I don't think there's enough memory in the 3DS card to hold 3D models of every single pokemon in existance.

I still think Black and White was blatantly made specificially for 3D.

I'm not expecting a pokemon grey not this time even though they usually do release a third iteration I would expect a gen 6 which lets you travle to Unova and whatever new generation; (kinda like gold and silver did). also expecting ruby and saphire remakes

I think 8GB is enough to hold 3D models of the pokemon,but it would force some cut backs on extra content like minigames if they ever decided they wanted to include them.

I think it will be a 3DS-DSi-DS hybrid, with features for each system. However, it does'nt really matter to those who updated to the 3DS because of backwards compatability (although the resolution of the screen will certainly be a pain).

I'm kinda surprised they were able to animate every Pokemon in Black and White. It would certainly take up a lot of space on the card if every Pokemon was put in polygons, but if they made 8GB cards like one guy said they might manage to squeeze it in. After all, Pokemon Battle Revolution was on a 4.7 GB disk, so an 8GB card would leave plenty of room for the adventure.

I meant that will they make a grey type game or scrap the 5th gen and make a 6th I just don't feel the ds platform can push pokemon any further.Nintendo must know pokemon with 3ds level graphics would sell like hot cakes and sell systems.

I'm hoping that they stick with sprites, honestly, or experiment with 3D character designs until they have something that looks decent before releasing a game with them.

as far as pokemon animations go im little scared to see what happens. i did not like the polygonol pokemon in pokemon battle revolution at all.

but honestly it will be cool to explore the world of pokemon with gamecube like graphics. charecters could look alot more human like without looking to japanese influenced. finally you could give your charecter an age above 12 and bellow 35? how about your own acent, skin color, ethnicity, ect also it would be nice to buy clothing for your human charecter. it would be just what we would need for an mmo like feel to pokemon with streetpass and servers

I think it will be for the 3Ds!

If it is, I want it to be a 3D world instead of top down for once!
