They still work, but noticed (mainly in Dream Team) that they're not working sometimes...haven't decided yet or when, but I'm thinking of switching over to XL at some point, so whatever.
EDIT: ugh, another old thread. :/
Once in a while, when playing OoT 3D, the L or R button wouldn't click becauses it was stuck in its position. It worked fine after a few minutes, however.
I'm rarely running into issues with the shoulder buttons, but I probably would have the issue soon. The R button is squeaking a little, and it doesn't help that almost everything important is mapped to the R button (speed up in Mii Plaza, firing in Kid Icarus Uprising, hopping in Mario Kart)
I don't know what I'll do if the buttons give out. I might move to the XL, but I don't want my special Flame Red 3DS to break. It's special (at least to me ) because it doesn't have the tri-color finish or the metal side where you insert a cartridge.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
i only have some minor problem with my R button. it has been used so much because of mario kart and pro evolution soccer that it feels much different than my L button. it still works but it doesn't feel so good anymore. like it will eventually break if i use too much. one of the reasons i didnt get MH3 is that i need the R button all the time when playing with a hammer.
i dont understand why so many games doesnt allow mapping the buttons by the player.
My L trigger became less clicky than the R trigger and was mostly unresponsive. I read about the "blow" trick, so I tried cleaning it out with compressed air. Worked like a charm!
The DSLite I had lost functionality in the L and R buttons relatively fast, but I didn't notice since I didn't buy too many games that used them.
The 3DS (original model) has great L and R buttons. They work like a dream and they've never given out on me. One time I thought they did, but it was just a piece of lint stuck under it.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
my L button started having issues shortly after kid icarus came out, and luckily i still had warranty. lately its been doing it again, and the blowing trick seems to work, just not for long. there are replacement button pieces you can get for the inside parts, so I will probably get those pretty soon as its getting annoying.
My L and R buttons are shot. And so far blowing dosent work. I think i'll just downgrade to a DSi. Same problem with my DS lite, only they are fixable and still reliable.
When I got my 3DS, it had clicky l and r buttons like the dsi. One broke. I sent it in and they repaired that for free, replacing them with soft buttons. They also tried to fix the way the screen would scratch itself, but it didn't work so I have to keep something there to protect it.
Don't get me started on the dsi. I had that thing repaired under warranty several times. I still have it and the R button is broken again.
