I'm new here, so I don't know where I can post it... Well, I'm thinking of getting a Wii U, but what's the difference between the Wii U and the 3DS XL?
I'm going to buy the basic pack (8GB) No, I don't want 32GB (Which is 220€) so, I don't know if I should buy the Wii U or keep waiting until the prices are down to 150€? Ok, thank you, merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone!!

I suggest doing a Google/internet search on both systems, because there are quite a few differences here.

You can start with Nintendo's official sites:

http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu
http://www.nintendo.com/3ds

The main difference is that Wii U is a "home console" that is designed to be played with a TV like Xbox, Playstation, Gamecube, NES, etc. 3DS is a handheld system that you can play anywhere like the Game Boy, DS, PSP, Vita, etc.

I remember, I ever had an very old PlayStation and played it on the TV. Xbox too, but I sold it. Yea, thank you very much! I'll look on the page right now, merry christmas and happy new year

Another difference are the games themselves, as only a few retail games can be bought on both systems. So check the games available on both to see what titles you find more appealing.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I like MK8 more than MK7, same with Smash and all the other games are better ( I always was sad when I saw those pics on Miiverse because I had an old 2012 system...) Well, it looks old because of the games and in the 1 or 2 months there comes a very good update on 3DS, on the Wii U more (I heard) And Wii U is better of the games and you can send friend requests and HD etc. Merry christmas and happy new year

You might want to check out some exclusives between the two systems, the thing that sells the 3DS for me is the exclusives such as Kirby, Pokemon and Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem awakening

I bought myself a Wii U not too long ago and a 2ds right after that. I would go for both if I were you.

I also chose the Wii U Basic, you can easily extend storage with a USB stick, or in case you want to download alot with an external drive. Besides there was a bundle with smash brothers included for quite a good price.

I also wanted to go for the 3ds XL, but now that they have the New 3ds out in some regions and probably to be released soon in Europe and the US, I decided to buy a 2ds, again there was a nice animal crossing bundle. I will probably buy the New 3ds XL as well one, to have a bigger screen but I will wait until there are more games coming out for it, xenoblade chronicles is not enough for me.

Well, I saw the basic which is 8GB is like 200€ and the 32GB pack is almost 300 :/ I already own an 3DS so... I mostly like adventure racing and fighting games

OK, I just thought you were chosing one over the other...

Like I said the Wii U basic is sufficient to me! Got no need for the gimmicks that you find in the deluxe version, and the 24gb storage difference is actually quite ridiculous if you consider how much USB sticks cost...

White is also a better color to go for! Believe me, you will not see scratches so easily on a white polyester high gloss surface than you will see on a black high gloss surface. I actually

I actually dont like high gloss surfaces on a console, mat is much better, I have got on xbox 360 in mat, its three years old and looks like new, high gloss can be a month old and will not look as good. IMHO they should give buyers more choice and produce consoles in mat and in hight gloss...

Go for it!

1. Welcome to NintendoLife!
2. Wii U. It's a great system, with loads of fun games - with more to come! Check out Nintendo Spain's site (as you live in Spain according to your profile) for more info on it, and for release dates.

Hope this helped, and Merry Christmas to you

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

Unless you are really strapped for games to play, I'd hold off on both.

The Wii U's best games are ahead of it, and it will likely see a price cut some time next year. The New 3DS is set to come out next year, so that's not the best purchase either.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

In my opinion the 3DS is the best gaming device of the last couple of years.
While the WiiU is gaining traction, the 3DS is easily the best option between the too.

You'll wont know what to buy first for months and months on end due to the mass of utter top games.
The only question is whether to wait for the New 3DS, because I can tell you from owning one it is night and day.

Perhaps buy a used 3DS XL real cheap and start enjoying it's awesome library and fork out for the upgrade in 2015.

Yeah, get the Wii U now, and get the N3DS later.

3DS now, Wii U when it truly becomes worth it.

you should wait and buy new 3ds xl. if you want to buy wii u too, hold a little longer, they maybe redesign it and it will be lower in price. nintendo is developing a console right now. i dont know it is a new one or a revision for wii u (like new 3ds series)

Nintendo fan.
Owned: NES, Megadrive, SNES, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, DS, 3DS, and PC. Planned to buy: redesigned Wii U, New 3DS and maybe redesigned XBONE/PS4

too hard of a choice, an easier option is to implode.

Get a n3DS now (assuming you're in PAL region), and catch up on the awesome library over the next 12 months, then get yourself a Wii U at the end of next year when Zelda arrives. Done

There's no reason to assume they'll redesign the Wii U. If you want one, get one. Waiting for something that may or may not happen is just silly in my opinion. The new console they are working one won't be released within the coming years. Nintendo is always working on their next home/handheld console.

Thank you everyone, I just don't know which to choose, most people say wait until the New 3DS is out (I already own an 3DS XL, before I had an normal 3DS but there ware problems on it) So yea, I also read that Nintendo is gonna make new consoles with a sharp thing, that's right or not?
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
