Topic: Wii games on 3DS

So I just got my work bonus and thought sod it and decided to double dip and get Donkey Kong on the 3DS. I already have it on the Wii but I'm using the 3DS so much more I'm going to trade it back in soon. I've really been enjoying the game so far but it got me thinking that Kirby's Epic Yarn would also be a good fit for the 3DS with the way Kirby moves into the background sometimes and maybe even Warioland The Shake Dimension (purely from a presentation stand point) would also be a good fit. What do you guys think, are there any other Wii games you think would be a good fit for the 3DS?

I think Xenoblade Chronicles would do nicely considering the lack of RPGs so far. I also wouldn't mind taking another bite out of Resident Evil 4. And while we're at it, let's toss in The Conduit. It's terrible, but could possibly be improved with the touch screen aiming and/or Circle Pad Pro compatibility.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I think High Voltage is making a new Conduit game specifically for the 3DS. They'd be crazy not to, considering there is no competition in that genre on the 3DS... Technically speaking, I think the 3DS is capable of playing anything for past Nintendo systems, provided it's adapted a bit first. So Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Zelda Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Trilogy, The original Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii, F-Zero GX, Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, or even Pikmin 1 + 2.

The possibilities go even further when you consider that it's technically possible to port games from the PS1 and PS2. So Devil May Cry Trilogy, Resident Evil 4, Xenosaga Trilogy, Shadow Hearts Trilogy, Okami, Tekken, Soulcalibur, All of the Final Fantasy games up to XII, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Half Life 1, and even Grand Theft Auto.

I'd just like to be able to play GBA games on it like Metroid Zero Mission, Fire Emblem 7, or Pokemon. Heck, Pokemon Pinball would be a game I'd play over and over again if I could just find a working copy. I've bought 4 of those suckers used from my town and not one of them was still a functional cartridge. DS games would be a nice thing to have downloadable too, like Metroid Hunters, Zelda Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass, Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, Golden Sun Dark Dawn, The World Ends with You, Castlevania, or Metroid Pinball. Even Virtual console games from the Super Nintendo and N64 would be nice, like Super Mario World, Kirby Super Star, the first 3 Donkey Kong Country games, Super Metroid, Zelda Link to the Past, Mario 64, Majora's Mask, F Zero X, Goldeneye, or Star Wars Pod Racer.

Of course, Nintendo would rather feed us these games one at a time over the course of months and charge $40 a piece, so don't expect that much awesome... still would be nice to see some more of the N64 classics get a fresh coat of paint though... But I got off topic. Yes, Wii games would be awesome on the 3DS, just not Skyward Sword or Wii Sports.

Pretty much most of the better titles on Wii would be awesome on 3DS. Last Story, Xenoblade, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, etc etc.

There wasn't much competition on the Wii, and they still failed horribly

Changing platforms won't make them any more talented. They'll still suck and people will still think they suck.

I don't think they suck. I just think they're incredibly mediocre.
And you know what? Sometimes you just want to play a mediocre game. Sometimes I get tired of playing amazing SNES RPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI and want to play a mediocre one like Earthbound. It makes me appreciate the better games even more, and that's got to be worth something.

Mediocre, suck, call it what you want. I never want to play a game like this.

There are too many good games available to play such poorly made games. As for the 3DS, FPS games are known for not selling well on handhelds. They don't have the talent to create a game that'll sell because of reviews, and the game won't sell simply because there aren't other FPS games.

Its best to leave them where they're happy, creating budget titles for iOS.

The Conduit didn't have much competition, but it did have the misfortune of releasing nearly 2 years after Metroid Prime 3 and around 2 months before Metroid Prime Trilogy. I personally haven't played either the original or its sequel, probably would want a Halo game first, but they have a much better opportunity to make an amazing game on the 3DS of the same series considering their experience with the previous two games and the fact the 3DS completely lacks in the genre.

As for Wii games on the 3DS, I'd gladly take the Metroid Prime games and the NPC! Pikmin games reworked for optional stylus control. I would take Xenoblade, though I'm concerned about how smooth it will be in comparison and how the details would look on the smaller screen.

The second game sold about 1/5th of the first game, when there were about twice as many Wii owners. This has nothing to do with market saturation. People didn't say "oh well I bought Metroid Prime 3 two years ago, guess I'll skip this one"

The franchise just didn't retain any sort of fan base because the first game was so disappointing, and the second game wasn't bringing in any new fans with the poor reviews.

If the original Conduit game had impressed people, there would have been a much closer sales difference. Instead, The Conduit 2 sold about 100k copies, which is pathetic. I don't understand how their success on the 3DS is almost certain when they haven't been successful on easier platforms with a greater FPS demographic.

Conduit wasn't that bad. It worked with what was available on the Wii. Red Steel wasn't much better and Metroid Prime 3 still kinda stunk because of the motion controls. The 3DS isn't perfect, but it is unique and much better suited for FPS games than the Wii. Just add some bots into multiplayer and I'll play that game the same as I played Metroid Hunters.... all...the...time... Still hate Trace and Sylux for being cheap...

When I mentioned Metroid Prime 3, I didn't mean people would be skipping the Conduit because of owning Corruption. What I was meaning to say is that critics would look down on the game more so due to the genre having such a high quality title present.

The N-64 Turok(all 3) games should get the OOT treatment and be remade for the 3DS with updated graphics and all, that would be incredible imo.

The triology in the same cartridge, that would be insane value.

Probably ain't gonna happen though..

Super Paper Mario. Come on, dimension flipping just so seems like something that'd be neat to see with the 3D effect (and they could even emphasise the effect in the normal view to show you where secrets might be/where you need to flip dimensions). Not to mention how awesome the mini games might be with touch screen and gyro controls.

Wario Land Shake It would be nice too. Maybe people might actually buy it this time.

As for WarioWare... nah. I'd rather a new 3DS WarioWare title than Smooth Moves, although a DIY sequel that works between the 3DS and Wii U would be freaking amazing.
