I agree with you. I think Sticker Star is better than Super Paper Mario, but both of them aren't as good as the first one or TTYD. I'd say it's a tie between the 1st 2, because they both had good elemnts that weren't available in one or the other.
Yeah Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star are completely different so its all dependent on the player's personal intertersts and opinions.
But the original is still better then all 3, and the original is 12 years (almost 13) older then sticker star, yet far superior.

I think the Paper Mario franchise has a very strong legacy, yet the games have strayed from their original concept. Sticker Star isn't that bad though, the RPG elements (as mentioned) fail to stand out in comparison with other games. Had the sequels been made in a different universe, I might have liked them better or at least not minded their existence as much...
Aside from the title, your message was fairly positive so I don't understand the haters.
The more complaining people do, the less likely a good, new Paper Mario will be released. Focus on things you like, rather than things you don't like, life might surprise you and give you more things you enjoy.

And it's not complaining, it's the truth, why does Nintendo have to keep disappointing on the Paper Mario series? Also you should be more respectful on other people's opinions especially for video games, instead of blanting uselessness like saying i'm complaining.

I like Sticker Star, so for me it's no failure. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played!
I still gave it a 7.9/10, which is still good and is a good buy. But I'm just saying, why not make a better game when you had it, what, 12 years before?
I think Nintendo just made a lot of mistakes with the concepts of the game. When some people (Not me, I loved SPM) complained about too much text in SPM, they just wanted it to go back to TTYD levels, instead Nintendo removed the plot and characters entirely. Same thing with the battle systems, the people complaining about the turn-based battles being gone wanted a more refined TTYD with some fresh twists, not really what SS offered. Although I think people would have warmed up to the sticker system some more had it been executed properly. The battles were almost completely pointless in the game, and the stickers littered around the world just looked junky IMO.
The game has a load of other problems as well, on top of just feeling uninspired, cheap, and generic, but those are my thoughts.
Nintendo should just listen to me Paper Mario master veteran.

To be fair to the game I didn't go in with the mindset that this was gonna be the new TTYD or like the original but a separate experience all together. The only main gripe with the game were the way stickers were used in battle because if you ran out during one you were screwed and like @8BitSamurai said some battles were pointless. But yeah some games were better like DQ9 to me anyway.
Capcom at E3: Guys we're sorry about how we've been treating Mega Man so we're gonna make it up to you by releasing the Mega Man Cancelled Collection with all the titles we cancelled in the condition they we're in just before we pulled the plug. Now who wants Street Fighter X Monster Hunter?

I do stand by the fact that complaining gets nothing done, I try my best not to complain about things I can't help change. If you got the digital version of sticker star before like january, they gave you a download code for donkey kong arcade edition. I cant remeber if this was through club nintendo or just nintendo themselves.

Probaly Club Nintendo, cause its not aviable in Norway. Its a bit annoying actualy, knowing about goodies you cant get. (I did not know arcade dk was given out outside of Japan)
