Topic: Why isn't the original 3DS getting any new designs?

Look, if it were purely a display piece I would prefer the original too. It's just so easy to muss up the moment a person touches it.

Also, the XL doesn't scratch its own top screen.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

this is the biggest(maybe the only) reason I want to upgrade to a XL, ASAP.

I thought the XL has the same problem? I kept hearing that issue when the XL just came out.

Also this problem will only exist if you jam your system into a tight space. I keep my 3DS in my jacket's pocket so it is not jammed in anyway. My screen is still pristine. I'm too cheap to get a screen protector....

Actually the XL is designed so that it won't scratch as easily

Yea, but the problem still exist which is kinda mind boggling. You would've thought Nintendo would know better. Now I'm kinda paranoid into getting a screen protector.

Mine has gone through quite a bit of abuse (even dropped it on pavement a couple of times), and the top screen is fine

Dropped a couple of times on the pavement and still working? Sounds like you have exceptional luck there.

It was closed and the top screen isn't scratched (even though the outside is dented )

I'd love a 2DS XL. if only because it would be so bizarre.

Now imagine a 2DS XL with 3D and duo circle pad.

I thought you dropped it in the middle of playing it....wonder how that would have turned out.

Now imagine a 2DS XL with 3D, duo circle pad and a capacitive touch screen with 720p. They will probably name it 3DS Tablet U i Pro. Mark my words.

I like the way the regular 3DS looks, but the XL is more functional for me. I think the XL is easier to paint. The 3DS has clear plastic over it or something. I don't really remember. I haven't had a regular 3DS since I got an XL.

The XL is not superior at all. It is uglier, less comfortable and compact, has bad sound etc.
I'm sticking with my Cosmo Black for now.

I thought the same thing, but when you get an XL in your hand, you will never want to change back. It is incredibly comfortable and the bigger screens makes the 3D feel that much nicer, I would never go back to the 3DS Mini.

As soon as i plunked the XL in my hands I wanted to switch back for the reasons i stated in my previous post. I'll take a brighter crisper image and next gen look over comfort and larger screens hehe. The XL is a joy then when playing VC titles in 1:1 mode.

I think the XL is easier to paint.

Sort of... Nintendo changed the manufacturing process for the outer shell and this makes it easier to add a picture or use a special colour scheme.
