Why is it that only the 3DS XL keeps getting new and new designs? Why isn't the original having any new designs? What's wrong with the original? Why so much hate on the original 3DS?

This hate is entirely imagined by you. It's just less popular.

Money. Why would Nintendo want to sell you a cheaper limited edition 3DS when they could sell you a more expensive limited edition 3DS XL?

because its the new system right now. there were different editions of the original one when it was newer.

i think that part of it probably has to do with the fact that the process they have to make them, wether its a new factory or not, is newer than the old system, so its probably cheaper for them to produce in general.

The XL is vastly outselling the regular version

XL sells more and is superior to the original design. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually stop production of the original model, since the majority of adults are going to want an XL, and the 2DS exists as the budget option and is sturdy enough to stand up to the abuse children typically deliver to their electronics.

The XL is not superior at all. It is uglier, less comfortable and compact, has bad sound etc.
I'm sticking with my Cosmo Black for now.

I don't 100% agree, but it is naive to discount the original model.
Basically the two models are different, so as to defy a straight comparison; I'm quite pleased with the original model.

Well first the original 3DS has ALOT of versions compared to XL but most of them are regional specific (pfft).

As of now though, Nintendo is focussing on bringing more variations for the XL and pretty much ignoring the original 3DS. Which is a shame because I love the original way more than the XL. But hey that's just me.

Glad I'm not the only one who felt that way LOL. The bigger screen is good an all but sacrificing portability and screen fidelity is just too much for me. Did I also mention that the midnight purple is just simply gorgeous?

Agree to disagree. The XL is a sleek machine. The matte finish means the outside isn't smudged with finger prints all the time. The D-pad and stylus placement are both far superior (who wants to reach all the way around the back of the machine to fish out a stylus?), and the XL has actual buttons for Start, Home, and Select. The image on the screen is lower resolution due to the increased size, but the 3D looks much nicer on the bigger screen and, more importantly, 1:1 pixel mode on DS games produces an image on screen that is almost the same size as they would be on a DS, unlike the original model, which produces a much smaller image.

The one thing the XL does worse is, indeed, the sound. The sound on the XL sucks. When I want to hear the sound, though, I'll usually wear earbuds, so it isn't that big a loss.

I loved my original model 3DS when it was all I owned, but only hours after getting my XL I realized I'd never be able to go back to that tiny little screen.

Opinion, opinion, opinion.

I disagree completely, I find the 3DS XL to be one of the more attractive handhelds.Plus, i find it so comfortable to use. And finally, i have no issues with the sound.

Amd yes, I've used both, and I just find the 3DS so inferior.

That also your opinion too. To me, the sacrifice of portability and screen fidelity makes the XL inferior to the 3DS.

Except I added "I find", meaning I wasn't making a factual statement.

I guess we'll all agree to disagree. I find the regular 3DS very inferior to the XL, but you find it the opposite. So there's no point in anyone arguing ovrr this.

BUT, if Nintendo make a 3DS XL Casval Rem Deikun version, you'll see me camping for it.

XL seems to be more popular. no idea why though.
standart version already has many different designs.

I have both, but I love my Cosmo Black more because it was my first handheld. I have to admit, though, that I prefer the XL's big screen, plus I feel the Circle Pad is not as slippery as in the original one.

A friend of mine wanted to get an original one for his Pokémon Y. I told him that for a few dollars more, he should get an XL instead. He did and he even thanked me later for the advice.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

There's nothing wrong with the original, but it got a redesign called the 3DS XL. Once they redesigned the original GBA and came out with the GBA SP you never saw a new GBA model, did you? Same deal here. The SP is what got all the new colors/limited editions, not the original.

I loved my Aqua Blue original 3DS when I got it at launch, but there's really no going back once you experience that XL screen in my opinion.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

And the sound quality is the exact same on the XL as it is on the original model. Jeez people.
