Regardless of logic.
Wait until Sony unveils the new handheld that does glasses less 3D, lol. Whenenver Sony does it, its not a gimmick, and Nintendo will be behind the times.

Nintendo weren't the first to implement 3D into its systems.

Because Every Gamer can appreciate HD, but not everyone can 3D.
I'm not on about owning a 3d Tv, but the fact that many people like myelf get migrains, Irritated Eyes or some other disorientation when viewing 3d images.
For me I can watch a 3D film for about 30mins before the start of a headache, For gaming on 3D Tv then around 15/20mins...
I tried the 3DS and started getting a headache in less than 10mins.

I wasn't aware there was a 3D gaming system before 1995.
I thought 3D was a very legitimate reason to buy a 3DS. I've played Killzone 3, Mortal Kombat, and Motorstorm: Apocalypse in 3D on PS3, and I think it adds more depth and immersion for the games. The only problem with it being part of your entertainment center, is that it is expensive, resulting in not many people being able to take advantage of it. Not only do people see it as useless(I don't, I'd rather have 3D honestly), but it's not accessible enough to make it into peoples' home as a standard feature.
3DS has it built in, so you can basically guarantee you're going to get 3D effects. I have the 3D slider all the way up unless I'm playing a motion control game.
HD is a standard that everyone can take advantage of with pretty much every TV available now adays.
All 4K TVs have 3D built in along with UHD resolution. If 4K TVs ever hit it big at retail, every one will have a 3D display whether they use/like it or not.

I'm quite sure Nintendo were the first to implement glasses-free 3D to mass-market, unless I can be proven wrong.
There were some 3D smart phones, but Nintendo's still looked better even without 720p. I think that's why Nintendo got sued, because they were able to make the 3D look more convincing by adding a sort of pseudo effect.
Virtual Boy isn't really an argument. We all know that was a failure, but 3DS is way more practical and functional than that could have ever been at the time.

i know it was a failure, but a failure in 3D, wich was my point. I personaly love my 3DS, and would never trade it away.
I'm not sure either of us knows what either of us was talking about.
Also, how did this spiral into a debate about whether or not Nintendo does everything first or not? It's not exactly like they invented stereoscopic 3D or touchscreens. Regardless of whether or not Nintendo has been the first or last to implement a particular technology in a gaming device, said technology has usually been around prior to its use in any gaming device. Yet, we constantly bicker about what gaming giant used it first in their product.
Nintendo puts a touchscreen on Duel Sword, Sony puts a touchscreen on Play Station Vendetta. Rage.
Sony puts an analogue nub on Party Station Ploppable, Nintendo puts analogue nub on 3D S***. Rage.
Sony releases Party Station :3 with HD graphicx. Nintendo releases Wii Copy U Seven Years L8er with HD graphicx. Rage.
Nintendo utilizes motion controls for Wii. Sony releases the Disco Ball Happy Hour Stick. Rage.
Apple releases iPhone Macro. Nintendo releases Wee Miniature. Rage.
Apple releases iPwn. Nintendo sticks touch screen on their Wii U console's controller, the gPwn. Rage.
This is like screaming about how you were the first commenter on an article. I'm not sure why anyone cares whether or not Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or anybody did anything first, especially when it is completely off topic.
It is stupid hypocrisy by stupid people sure, but HD at least is super cool new age gaming graphics. 3D is just lame in general, rarely adding anything to anything. Super Mario 3D Land and one or two sections of Kid Icarus Uprising aside, it has not added anything to the gameplay. At best beyond that it is mildly cool at points but that's it. Other companies striving towards company killing new graphics is at least expected, but Nintendo with DS, Wii and even Wii U are innovating and popularizing new gameplay. So for 3DS to rely on a graphical gimmick is kind of a huge disappointment by comparison.
I'd like to ask, to those of you who say that it's not innovative because a small number of gamers can't use it (due to headaches, ect), does that also mean that sound upgrades can't be innovative because deaf gamers can't experience them?
All in all, it seems like the most legitimate reason mentioned is that it's more of a hassle than most people are willing to go through (with glasses, ect), which I'll agree with. I'm confident that as time goes on the tech will be improved, so hopefully they'll be able to alleviate some of the issues.
Also, can we knock it off with the Nintendo vs Sony stuff. It's irrelevant to the situation.
