Ever since Heroes of Ruin released more information around fall, I kept it under my radar the most, behind Mario Kart 7. I feel that it will be awesome because:
-It will show how to make an online game for the 3DS. Mario Kart 7's online was fantastic, with its communities and all. But Heroes of Ruin seems to set a new benchmark for online 3DS games. Heroes of Ruin features seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op through StreetPass and SpotPass. In layman's terms, you can go with someone else who owns the game to kick some @** together, local AND online. SpotPass will also bring together a network called the Traders Network to trade weapons and items. But if they enhanced it to be like a hub world for people to mingle with, it would be juts amazing. Of course, that wouldn't really be necessary, but it could allow for better interaction.
-Engaging Gameplay. I look for gameplay and controls over everything else, so they have to create amazing quests to go on. Anyway, I can bet you a million dollars that there is someone in the world who thinks that Heroes of Ruin is purely a button-masher with no strategy. Well, I don't know about the AI as of now, but if you're having fun (and genuine fun, NOT like Pokemon Rumble...) blowing crap up, I really could care less. It seems like that the game will be awesome: blowing brains out of baddies, and cursing at your friend over the mic, it will be hilarious. But the planned SpotPass content should NOT be carbon-copies of one another. Meaning that it shouldn't ALWAYS go like 'go to A, kill B, go to C, kill D, get E, finish quest,' and rinse and repeat. I want awesome quests. UNIQUE quests. Quests that involve the plot of the story that could revolve around things like trust and stuff.
But anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. Heroes of Ruin looks awesome; I can't wait to play it. Thanks for reading, and feel free to comment and debate.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@Eureka Maybe it's cause of the online multiplayer it has. 4 people fighting together cooperatively instead of against each other, throw in some voice chat and it all sounds alot like what Monster Hunter 3G should have ._.
Currently playing: 3DS: KI: Uprising Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles "Heh, heh... Thanks... You're nice. Umm... Can I ask... a question? Your friends... What kind of... people are they? I wonder... Do these people... think of you...as a friend?"
