Topic: ...Why are people still freaking over the 3ds...?

I'm starting to be annoyed to all of this useless mess. I've seen many people on the internet that somehow can define the PsVita BETTER than the 3ds talking about games.... It's hard to believe but it's happening, now LITERALLY there are also people that buy the 3ds just to split it with an axe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_vhWxjGHp8). What's going on to the people of the internet? Why it has become such an awful place full of awful people? This is terrible, really really terrible...

What did you expect. When you give people the freedom to express their opinions, there will be those who will do so in a very crass manor.
Simple answer is to ignore it and move on, but we wouldn't want to do that now would we.

As someone deeply invested in Nintendo's ecosystem right now and having no interest in the PS4, I could make a decent argument as to why the PSV's library is just as good as the 3DS. Thing is though that they're so different in appeal and function that there really is no real metric to compare them. Objectively, you can say that the Vita has better specs and the 3DS has better sales. Beyond that, it's purely subjective. Fact remains that the PSV has a ton of fantastic games, as does the 3DS.

But splitting 3DSs with an axe, that's some hardcore teenage nerd rage right there, and the dislikes on the video and comments saying how stupid is should have told you immediately that it wasn't something worth getting angry about.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Really, if people wanna waste a 3DS just to express an opinion, why not? There are also numerous videos about people destroying brand-new mobiles, TV'a, and even cars. And this is just as much hollow for an actual argument as anything else.

Agreed. Vita has a solid lineup.. I still rank the 3DS' library quite higher but I can see why someone would prefer the Vita..

I think the Vita has a solid line up, but its one that its not even moving...

i was this close to get a Vita a couple of weeks ago, but... the fact that even Sony doesnt have faith in it, push me out of it... Nowadays its an indie game device, hardly any AAA title, and for indies i have my PC

Welcome to the internet, where you discover the amazing and where people tell you to GTFO. This is the GTFO side of the internet and I keep my view of GTFO. May we live forever and hope you have a pleasant stay on our side

Why be upset at people buying a 3DS to destroy it? They're pretty much handing Nintendo money, a sale is a sale, if they want to pay for something and just throw the purchase away, let them. The more systems they destroy, the more end up being bought.

The Vita, in my opinion, has more good games overall than the 3DS does. But only 1 or 2 of them are exclusives. Whereas all the 3DS' best games are exclusives. That's the clear difference between the 2.

As for people smashing 3DSs, my response is best summed up by David Mitchell:

PS Vita would have done better if Sony marketed to everyday gamers and not just the hard core players. Nintendo markets to everyone. From noobs to causual puzzlers to hardcore shooters and RPG players. Nintendo also markets to parents and kids while keeping a loyal fan base of everyone else. Sony typically defines itself for hard core gamers so naturally you have people with no life smashing 3DS's because they don't no a good brand when they see it.

Sony marketed the Vita as a portable PS3, which is about the dumbest way to market it they could have picked.

Why was it? They did alright with the PSP with a similar attitude.

The PSP came out in a different climate. At the time, smartphones weren't popular yet and the PSP could play movies and music, had Skype, etc. It was also played heavily into nostalgia, being a portable PS1. I know that's why I bought one. Sony also didn't fool themselves into thinking that people wanted to play AAA shooters on a 5" screen with tiny analog nubs.

Lol I thought the PSP was supposed to be a portable PS2! I'm guessing smartphones are the main difference though, yes. Although I don't think it's entirely clear why smartphones took more of the Sony market share than the Nintendo. Nintendo usually appeals more to casual gamers. Maybe it's the stronger brand identity.
