Mewtwo has been my favorite since childhood, because of how awesome and powerful he is, but Genesect has become tied with him because he just looks cool and intimidating. Plus, he has a canon on him.
Breloom because Grass Pokemon are the best and having the mix of Fighting makes him really powerful. He also is able to give status effects just by being attacked. Plus I like to imagine his tiny T-Rex arms trying to do Mega Punch lol
Edit: Suppose I should explain why. I love Kyogre's design, and he's my favorite legendary (other than Mewtwo of course). Water is tied for my favorite type. Primal Kyogre made me very happy.
<-- I guess mines goes without saying, been my favorite for 17 years. As for the reason it cute (yet cool), its type is my favorite element, I hard a hard time breaking certain odd habits, It can kick pikachu's butt, and rodents are one of my favorite types of mammals (rats not included).
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Wich Pokémon is my favorite changes often.
A few of my favorites would be:
The talking Meowth from the anime. I usualy think about him more as a human than the animal, mainly because he acts like a human.
Jigglypuff. She is my main in Smash.
The Notched ear Pikchu from the HGSS event, it is super cute!
Without a doubt, Ursaring is my favourite. Mostly because he's a bear, but a Guts/Flame Orb/Facade combo really hits hard. I like the other bears a lot too (Beartic and Pangoro) but I don't find them as usable in battle.
I'm also really attached to Typhlosion (my favourite of the starters), for no real reason other than its design. Whimsicott is another of my favourites for a Trickster/Encore combo which can work wonders if used right. Add in Moonblast and a good range of support moves like Stun Spore or Giga Drain for recovery and it's quite a fun Pokemon to use.
Tyrantrum without a doubt. Love his design, love his movepool, can take a hit and deal back the damage in spades. How can I not love this ancient T-Rex king?

Before Gen 6, I would have said Arcanine because I love dogs especially large breeds and he's so cool, powerful, and cute. And it's awesome how he was almost a legendary.
Now, I'd say it's Sylveon.
I'm not even sure where it began or even why but I just so happened to come across some information about the newest Pokemon game. By that time, they had revealed the mystery eeveelution and I just checked it out from pure curiosity ("they're still making eeveelutions?"). I saw her and was completely enamored from first sight. Everything about her design screamed to my sensibilities. Pink, ribbons, baby blue eyes, those adorable Eevee ears and nose... and she was a Fairy (which eventually became my favorite type because a lot of past Pokemon I loved got the typing)! I knew I just had to capture and train this beautiful mon.
From there, I started following all the info on the game, I was all about learning the lore of Pokemon and even found myself talking with my friends about it! I felt like a kid at Christmas when I finally had X in my hands and couldn't put it down. Sylveon was a wonderful key player on my team and I love our clean sweeps with the dragons. I pretty much owe my current fandom to Sylveon.
Mewtwo and Ho-Oh have been my favorites during all my childhood and over, but now my absolute fave is Latias. She's so cute yet powerful, and has two of the types I love the most. I also love Victini, Gallade...and too many others
