The Gamestop store here is having a midnight launch. I even cut a deal with the manager to let me in the front door the night of the 3DS launch so I can be the first one to get a 3DS in exchange for me letting them play my JP 3DS system.
My local Game is too here in the UK. They are supposed to be getting a 3DS demo unit today/tomorrow so the same bribe won't work. Might have to use my Xperia Play or PSP2 instead...

However, it's not quite as exciting as a home console or game launch since you're supposed to fully charge portable systems before using them. Assuming the 3DS's battery doesn't play by different rules, it'd just be for the benefit of charging it overnight while I sleep.
Our GameStop is going to have a release party here in McDonough, GA. I hope they give away some free games too!

Anyway, I went in to our local GameStop and they told me about the launch celebration they are going to have on the night of the 26th and from what he let slip it seems as if there is going to be some sort of contest and I'm guessing that means they're going to give away a few 3DS games. Anyway, I guess I can hope at lest. It'd be nice to win a few free games while I could invest money in something else such as a 3DS Protective Case, Screen Protectors and of course an iTunes card.

I feel that way. In seriousness, I've NEVER heard or seen them do a midnight launch for ANYTHING related to Nintendo. Not even Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

That battery is a MUST BUY Iz2009. With that battery I can play Paper Mario 3DS non stop. I can also imagine people using it to play Super Street Fighter IV 3D throughout the night.
