Topic: Who took a dump on my DS games?

Somebody did, because when I tried to play them on my 3DS they looked like crap.

Am I missing something? All my DS games look ridiculously blurry and ugly on this otherwise wonderful new handheld. Surely this isn't the way Nintendo intended it to look?

i think you might need to take the lithium polymer batterie out the back of the 3DS and let it cool off for 5 min. honestly if you play long enouth without turning off your 3DS it will wear on the ram

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear

We were told multiple times that DS games would look noticeably worse on the 3DS, in both clarity and color. Why are you surprised?

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I tried pressing start and select when booting up my DS game, but it never works. What am I doing wrong?

RAM (random access memory) is the core component to rendering the graphics of the 3DS. playing 64bit and above games for long periods of time will put a grinding hault on the ram of your 3DS. also the battery is a pretty easy fix. like any phone just take it out and let it cool off for a while then pop it back in

You'll have to excuse my siblings. If I let them outside they do horrible things like this. My sincerest apologies to you, your 3DS, and all of your poopy DS games.

no seriously that's just the way it is, the resolutions of the different systems' screens are completely different

Worked fine for me. Make sure to press them at the same time, maybe that's it. Maybe you didn't notice the difference, I didn't notice it right away either.
Also just tried the different sizes. I agree the default setting does make it look blurry, but not awful and the DS size makes it look clearer but it's tougher to see.

You need to hold the buttons after selecting the game from the Home menu

Traded in my DS for the 3DS unfortunately. I'll try the start select thing, but it seemed like the screen was already fit to the DS size.

Oh well. Maybe I'm just being a complainer-pants.

The ds images are stetched to fit the higher resolution screens of the 3ds. Obviously they wont look as sharp and as good as they would on their native resolution. Eather just deal with it, or like Tj92 said press start and select while booting the ds game to make the visuals fit ther native resolution, the image will be much smaller but will be even more sharp and vivid than on a regular ds because of the higher pixel count.

I thought it was funny how noticeable and awful the change in graphics was under the download play menu. Go to download play and click 3DS software, and then try clicking on DS software. It's like the 3DS fires up a whole new crappy GPU just for the screen that is looking for DS software

I don't really have a problem with the blurriness. It's easily ignorable and I can still easily tell what's going on.

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

TJ92 didn't say that, although he was aware of that option. Maybe he should have mentioned it in his first post.

@Jumbif

You can still play it, you know, unless you really have big problems with minor blurring. I wouldn't not play DS games over it.

Wait, I forgot that the important parts were on the bottom screen. I was saying that because it's already a bit blurry in the first place, so I thought the 3DS screen would mess it up completely.
