For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Ofcourse I tried a brick before I bought the 2DS. That was like the only comments I found on the internet. However, the bricks I have didn't read the games I tried. Did you had any luck trying? If so, care to share your knowledge?
I never even upgraded from my 3DS to a 3DS XL. As much as I like the bigger screens, games don't look as crisp, plus I've heard things like the speakers are not as good and stuff. I'm content with my regular, good ol' Aqua Blue 3DS. And 2DS, while I don't hate it or anything, it just isn't for me. I would miss the 3D way too much, and not being able to fold is a deal breaker for me. I think it's a great option for people wanting a 2DS though. One of my friends, whom I've been telling to get a 3DS ever since launch day, finally picked up a 2DS, which is great, but like I said I would never want one.
I wouldn't recommend the 2DS to anyone that enjoys the 3D feature. Glad your buddy is part of the mobile Nintendo movement now
Grats on the upgrade! For me, I can't imagine playing Project X Zone, Fire Emblem:Awakening, Zelda LBW and MK7 without 3D. Some people may consider the 3D a gimmick, but to me it's a great feature.
From the 4 titles I only have Zelda LBW and MK7. Zelda was the only title I played with 3D always on, so I must admit I was sceptical about how it would perform on a non 3D screen. Luckily I still looks and plays great
I use to have a DSi XL ,and i thought i would end up getting a 3DS XL ,but i never liked the 3D effect when i played the store demos. When they announced the cheaper 2DS i figured that was more my style.
Now i finally got a 2DS for my birthday this month ,and i like this design better than the standard DS design. I never liked how the hinge factor ever since my ds lite's hinge cracked ,and later completely broke.
To me 2DS is alot more comfortable ,and almost feels like an updated version of the original Gameboy design (yes i'm old enough to have had owned the original green/black Gameboy). I like the button layout better ,and the larger shoulder buttons. The only way i'd change from my 2DS would be if they made an XL version ,or a version with a second circle pad.
Congrats, on your device. I fully understand the Gameboy comparison. Sturdy and comfortable.

I have thought about it since I dont use the 3D effect at all on my 3DSXL but I do enjoy the bigger screens of the XL. Now if they come out with a 2DS XL or I had some more disposal income then I would be very very tempted to get one.
I am glad you are enjoying it though.

I've reluctantly come to realize its value... as a budget handheld for children who break things. That is likely why the top part of the screen is coated in thick plastic. In this regard, the move away from a clamshell design was a smart move, as the hinges are easy to break.
With that said, if you like it, more power to you. I wouldn't be able to downgrade to that, though. I'd go back to the old 3DS first.
There was this one time when my "toy bag" fell to the ground and a hard plastic action figure of a Hunter from Resident Evil broke my original DS from the hinge.
It still works to this day, but the top screen is mostly unusable.
I find the 2DS' design to be a lot more appealing than the clamshell design(also someone who's been annoyed at the hinges from time to time). If they had a '3D'S XL in the model of 2DS, with better speakers, I would buy that in a heartbeat because I'm too much of a fan of the 3D.
Since it doesn't cost too much, I'm thinking of picking one up anyways I guess, as it is always nice to have a secondary thing available.

Multiple comments prove otherwise, and I didn't start this topic to make me feel better. I am happy with my decision but I know this device isn't for everybody. For me the screens are better (Sharper than the XL, Less glare than the normal 3DS), feels better in the hand. For a really good audio experience you'll need an external device for all of them anyway. The speakers on all 3 devices aren't anything to write home about.

Is there really such a big difference in the sharpness of the screens between 3DS/2DS and the XL? I haven't bought any version yet, but I'm considering 3DSXL because part of the reason why I do so little handheld gaming is because the screens are tiny. I love gaming on a big screen TV. That being said, I doubt I'd be using the 3D much and I don't take my portables outside of the house much, so form-wise and price-wise the 2DS would be best for me.

The blurriness for the bigger screen is for me personal very noticeable, for others not at all. I would advise to take a look at the different models running the same game (or main menu). This way you can see which screen you prefer, maybe you don't see any difference or prefer the way the XL screens look.

I seconded the screen fidelity on the XL. Although not significant, but it is noticeable. One of the many reason why I went with the regular 3DS (did I mention the glorious midnight purple?).

Ah sorry about that, I was merely joking. Peace

i wanted to share my experience a little here as I also have a 2DS & a 3DS XL. My only issue with the 2DS for me is the screen size but as you say it is more crisp and bright.
For me personally i find the 3DS XL uncomfortable to hold for me and after awhile my hands started cramping. Yes I have big hands. with the 2DS I dont have this issue. It feels great in my hands & is comfortable.
also as for the Mono speaker. I really dont see any issue with that. I can use my headphones for stereo sound but honestly while in my home the 1 speaker is pretty darn loud and does what I need.
So far so good IMO. I have the blue one. I can see how people call this a childs toy while its NO 3DS XL build quality I find the 2DS to be built very well tho it could use some work in the build quality. Especially on the sides where the volume button is located. Mine can creek sometimes
