I think that the DS Lite is more lightweight, but I like my 3DS better. The only uncomfortable thing on my 3DS are the edges at the bottom by the D-pad and Power Button. Otherwise, I prefer the 3DS's shoulder buttons which allow me to hold the system in a slightly more comfortable way than the DS Lite.
EXPLANATION: EVERY 3DS game I own needs me to have my fingers at the ready on L and R along with my thumbs ready to access the Circle Pad, Face buttons, and D-pad. All of my DS games only required use of the D-pad and Facebuttons OR the D-pad, touchscreen, and L. I felt that with the 3DS, my fingers aren't as arced to hit the L and R buttons as with my DS Lite.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.

I agree with kyuubikid. I like my 3DS better- but I find that the shoulder buttons, power switch and especially D-Pad are much more comfortable on my Lite. The Circle Pad makes up for it though.

LMFAO do you remember the "+13 chat rooms" and all that stuff. I used to have deep conversations with people just to tell'em am 49 years old, some people just left on the spot(scared as hell i assume) while others be like "damn you're old!" good times indeed.Oh and i agree DSi:OG is the most gorgeous b/c the matte finish and the simplicity design.

XD. Those "Can I Sing" flipnotes where horrible. Not sure about the "Bully" flipnotes though. Remember those "Add stars if you...." flipnotes? Those were downright stupid. "Add stars if you want to adopt this pokemon. He has gone through hell and deserves care. Think of the smile you'll put on his face when you adopt him. You can adopt him for only 500 stars." Downright stupid.
I always found my DS Lite to be way nicer than my DSi.
Only tried out the DSi XL a few times and that thing's horrible.
The 3DS however, I think is about on par with the DS Lite.
I can play for hours and hours and hours (even Kid Icarus for those that complain about it) without getting any hand cramps or anything at all.
Well, I have the first DS instead of a Lite. But I also think my DS is better! My 3DS looks better, since it's black and has the triforce symbol. And it has shiny material. But my heavier, silver DS just feels better in your hands! It gets less dirty! It's easier to clean it (you can't see the filth that good on the black, shiny surface)! The top screen is more stable (the 3DS one does wiggle a bit). The rim of the bottom screen makes a mark on the upper screen! The start, home, select buttons aren't very comfortable (this seems to be fixed on the 3DS XL). The shoulder buttons are less good (while the gba had better shoulder buttons then the DS)! The volume button isn't also very nice (more then once I hit it during intense play. The result: Blasting my ears of!)!
I don't get it: Nintendo has soooo much experience in controllers. So why does the "feel" of the controllers (you could call the button layout of a handheld also a controller, I guess) go down instead of up? I really don't get it! For that reason I hope the Wii u controller is comfortable enough!
While I may have sounded very negative, I still love my 3DS! Because of the games!
Eh of the two DSLites I had none of them still works, and I treated them nicely.
The first one simply stopped working one day and the second one has buttons and hinges that varey work anymore (and the shoulder buttons are completely out of service).
Not what I'd call my favorite console. My 7 years old GBA Micro still looks like new.
