Topic: which to get? Star Fox 64 3D or Kid Icarus Uprising?

I saw footage of both and I have to say that I want to get Star Fox because I've never played Star Fox before while Kid Icarus Uprising's trailer wasn't as good as Star Fox.

Ok so I've never played Rail Shooter games before so I want to know which one of these games are good for me to get into the rail shooting genre.

Then in terms of 100% completion (which I am into always) which one is fairly balanced to complete 100% and less annoying? Starfox 64 3D or Kid Icarus Uprising?

Finally in terms of gameplay and game feel, which one does that best? Star Fox 64 3D or Kid Icarus Uprising?

Also note that I have never played Star Fox before so to those who have played the original and then played the remake shouldn't mention how the original is better than the remake due to the slight changes or shouldn't mention that some things are changed that was better off with the original itself.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I don't have either, but I would go for Kid Icarus, and then wait until next year to get Star Fox U.

Most wanted Smash Bros. Characters as of right now:
1. Chrom
2. Bowser Jr. (Probabbly not going to happen, but it would be cool)
3. Sceptile (Same as above)
All the other characters that I have wanted were announced at E3...

HA YOU SEE THAT I TOTALLY CALLED BOWSER JR!...

I have both, get Kid Icarus Uprising

Kid Icarus Uprising isn't just a rail shooter, mind you

Star Fox 64 DS is unquestionably the safe option. And unless they messed up something badly, I'm all for people buying a remake of one of my favorite games. It's quite short but I'd be hard-pressed to think of another single player game I've replayed more.

But Kid Icarus: Uprising is more unique and has a ton more content. But not everyone liked its uniqueness. Most of the people that did are gonna say Kid Icarus and most of the people that didn't are gonna say Star Fox I feel.

I would say Kid Icarus. There's way more to do, it's a newer game, it has online, you can use the 3DS camera with AR cards, and it's probably more fun for you(it was for me). Starfox 64 is a fun game, too, but it doesn't have nearly as much content. It does have alot of replayability, but so does Kid Icarus, IMO.

I would have to say Star Fox 64 3D. I played and enjoyed both but Star Fox is my favorite series of all time and think you should play that. It is short but has tons of replay value. Just a great portable game all around. Uprising isn't bad, I just don't think it is as good of a portable game.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If you're purely looking for a rail shooter, then I guess Star Fox is more what you're after.
Kid Icarus: Uprising is the best game on the 3DS though, just saying.

KI:U I'll edit this in more detail later to explain why.

Though Kid Icarus is a bit more than just a on rails shooter the on rail parts make up quite a huge part of the story mode. The story mode its self has an enjoyable plot with imo the best voice acting on the 3DS, the game is easily much longer than Star Fox 64 3D.

Star fox! It's awesome. I replay it all the time and kid Icarus I only played thru once, so there's my two ยข

I recommend Kid Icarus more, but you can't go wrong with either. Both titles have an insane level of replayability imo. I've sunken hundreds of hours into Uprising and a good amount of time into Star Fox.

Why not both?

Kid Icarus Uprising, then Star Fox. Look for the best deal on Star Fox, you can easily get it for 20 or less. Kid Icarus is worth every penny of its 40 dollar asking price.

If you want to get into rail shooters, just get neither, and get Sin and Punishment 2 for the Wii instead!

Kid Icarus just for its amazing writing and it has a high replay value

Star Fox is just a repetitive 64 remake and not worth it in my opinion

I would recommend Kid Icarus. Just good luck getting 100% on that, Sakurai crammed 360 achievements in there, plus online multiplayer. I love the self aware story and the many jokes, plus it has tons of replay with its many weapons and adjustable difficulty. The thing with KI is that it is part rail shooter, and part action-adventure, while Fox is 100% shooter, with off rails parts for the boss fights.

Plus if you have a Wii or Wii U, you can still get the original Star Fox for $10. Or the gem that @dumedum recommends.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I would recommend Shin Hikari Shinwa: Palutena No Kagami more, but Star Fox 64 3D is just a 3D remake. Star Fox 64 3D is still fun though, but Shin Hikari Shinwa: Palutena No Kagami had a Nice story, good humor ("Floor ice cream gives you health!") and HUGE packed action that was so Intense. Star Fox 64 3D is well, almost the same as Star Fox 64 but with few differences.

Like sinalefa said, you can get the original for Wii or the Wii U.

(Shin Hikari Shinwa: Palutena No Kagami is a Japanese title for Kid Icarus Uprising so, it's translates to New Light Myth: Palutena's Mirror.)
