That's almost broken, Talonflame has the advantage of handling everything that resist flying with flare blitz, making rotom the only reliable electric type to deal. Most rock types aren't too threatened either but must watch for random will-o-wisp. Dodrio on the other hand can't touch steels, electrics, and rock types..

Ground/flying is interesting...

Ground/flying vs. normal flying
Normal Flying Pros.

  • Ghost immunity
  • Wide array of STABs
  • Only 2x weak to ice
    Cons.
  • Nuetral Mach Punch
  • Weak to Electric
  • Weak to stealth rocks

Ground Flying Pros:

  • Stealth rock nuetrality
  • No more electric weakness
  • Resistant to poison
    Cons:
  • 4x weak to ice (particularly ice shard)
  • No ground STABs other than mud-slap
  • Weakness to water
  • Nuetrallity in grass

These "What If Megas" are quite fun to look at. Mind if I have a go with Lilligant? I figured I'd try something a little unorthodox.

Lilligant (Grass)
HP: 70
Attack: 60
Defense: 75
Sp. Attack: 110
Sp. Defense: 75
Speed: 90

Mega Lilligant (Fairy/Grass)
HP: 70
Attack: 130 +70
Defense: 95 +20
Sp. Attack: 100 -10
Sp. Defense: 95 +20
Speed: 90
Ability: Prankster (Alt - Pixilate or Chlorophyll)
If Pixilate was the ability, the defence buffs would probably go into Speed instead.
Didn't take competitive ability into account when thinking this up.

I think improving it's special attack is better than it's physical attack.

Actually.. prankster liligant is really good. Priority sleep powder and quiver dance. It can put everything that outspeeds to sleep guarenteed, and after a quiver, outspeeds and puts gale wings talonflame asleep while it tries and murders it. (which isn't hard due to it's fraility)

It could be given access to more Ground moves though, as sometimes Pokemon that get Megas get increased movepools to take advantage of their new forms.

Another idea would be Normal/Flying but with either Motor Drive or Lightening Rod (in the latter case boost its Sp. Atk stat upon mega instead of Atk).

That's true, heracross got a massive buff in his movepool. I think ampharos didn't learn dragon pulse before gen 6 either. Possibly giving dodrio access to EQ would work out. Then that just leaves rotom a problem.

@MegaBeedrill - Yeah, Sp. Attack boost is obviously better (-10 Atk, +70 Sp. Atk was the initial thought), I just did that to be a bit different. Lilligant can use decent physical-focused moves in Petal Blizzard, Seed Bomb and Return with Sword Dance but doesn't have the base attack to back up the moves so I swapped attack stats for the heck of it while still making Sp. attacking a bit of an option. 100 Sp. Atk is bad for a Mega, yes, with priority Sleep Powder and Growth or Calm Mind, who cares? Not to mention, Lilligant's a princess in supporting. Prankster After You.

Didn't Fearow get Drill Run at some point? Same could apply to Dodrio there too.

Didn't know he got sword's dance, but it's not dragon dance. What makes your lilligant scary is the idea of quiver dancing, outspeeding every other priority user including talonflame, and being capable of putting everything to sleep. The bulk you gave is pretty ideal, not to mention SpD will increase with quiver giving plenty of setup oppertunities.

It even gets priority synthesis, healing wish (HOLY CRAP!), and teeter dance. Seriously, this thing could be broken.

I was talking to guys in a livestream yesterday and they said I broke the metagame with the idea of prankster parasect.. this on the other hand is 10 times more threatening.

EDIT: Yeah drill run fearow I believe is a thing. Would make sense for dodrio to get it via eggmove or something.

Speaking of type changes, I'm going to post Pokemon that I think are viable candidates for a type change (not saying that they all will, but I think they're at least plausible). No stats or abilities because it's a huge list and I have enough trouble coming up with all of that for one Pokemon, let alone 30.

Mega Ninetales- Fire/Ghost
Mega Persian- Normal/Dark
Mega Golduck- Water/Psychic (no idea why it wasn't this in the first place)
Mega Rapidash- Fire/Flying or Fire/Fairy
Mega Marowak- Ground/Ghost
Mega Noctowl- Psychic/Flying
Mega Ledian- Bug/Fighting
Mega Sunflora- Grass/Fire
Mega Girafarig- Psychic/Dark
Mega Dunsparce- Something other than pure Normal, not sure what. Normal/Dragon, Normal/Fairy, Normal/Flying, Normal/Ground, something along those lines.
Mega Blissey- Normal/Fairy
Mega Lugia- throw Water in somewhere. For that matter, why is Lugia even Psychic to begin with? They don't say anything about it having Psychic powers in its Dex entries or lore.
Mega Solrock- Rock/Fire
Mega Lunatone- Rock/Ice
Mega Milotic- Water/Fairy
Mega Huntail- Water/Dark (another that I question why it wasn't this in the first place)
Mega Gorebyss- Water/Psychic (another that I question why it wasn't this in the first place)
Mega Staraptor- Flying/Fighting
Mega Luxray- Electric/Dark
Mega Mismagius- Ghost/Fairy
Mega Porygon-Z- Normal/Psychic or Normal/Electric
Mega Pixies- Psychic/Fairy
Mega Cresselia- Psychic/Fairy
Mega Serperior- Grass/Dragon
Mega Samurott- Water/Fighting or Water/Steel
Mega Conkeldurr- Fighting/Rock
Mega Seismitoad- Water/Poison
Mega Beartic- Ice/Water
Mega Braviary- Fighting/Flying
Mega Florges- Fairy/Grass (another member of the Why Wasn't It This in the First Place Club)

Water/Fighting. Samurai's would agree.

Mega Braviary- Fighting/Flying

How about we give it a Flying Physical move that has an added effect instead, so it actually benefits something from Sheer Force and it's typing.

Mega Florges- Fairy/Grass (another member of the Why Wasn't It This in the First Place Club)

It didn't join cuz Poison. It would have been a bad tank.

Mega Pixies- Psychic/Fairy

Who?

I agree with everything though. Porygon-z seems better single type, persain I'm not exactly following the reasoning.. and I'd like cress to actually become pure fairy and remove psychic typing entirely.

How much more bulk you want her to have?

I mainly chose types based on two factors:

1. Lore/Dex entries
2. Existing or potential moves

Both Meowth and Persian fit those two requirements, they're regular animals that are nocturnal and steal shiny things, and their moveset is a mix of Normal and Dark type moves. Hence, Normal/Dark. In retrospect I have to wonder why they didn't get this type back in 2nd gen, it fits them like a glove.

Mega Blissey... that's scary to think about.

So what would you give to a Mega Miltank?
