I've seen lots of comments praising Sandisk. When i went to an electronics store one of the guys who worked there told me that the cards they have aren't compatible with the 3DS and I think they even had Sandisks over there so I thought the guy might not be an expert so I'll try another store. Can you please tell me which brands are the most reliable and what exactly should I do once i've bought the SD card cuz i read some comments about formatting and ***** and i have 0 knowledge about that stuff.

The reason i want the SD card is to buy metal gear solid 3 and my 2gb sd card isnt enough.

Thank you in advance.

@AceFromGorillaz Hi there, the 3DS can take regular SD cards up to 2GB and SDHC cards from 4GB to 32GB. I'm not sure what the salesman at the store may have been talking about though as Sandisk is a reliable brand.. to be honest, Sandisk would be my first recommendation.

In regards to formatting, the 3DS requires the SD card to be formatted in something called FAT32. Nintendo advise you to use a recommended formatting tool which I've linked at the end of my post, but most people just format theirs using their PC. Some don't even format at all & just copy their data straight across.

Hope this is helpful, have fun with the rest of the Gangreen Gang Ace.

Nintendo recommends: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

@DanteSolablood thanks for the reply and the help mate.so i go to the store and i'll get a regular sandisk or of a specific edition and stuff cuz in other forums some people specifically suggested e.x sandisk extreme.

@AceFromGorillaz The "extreme" is a slightly better specification, so it will help with the loading/saving speeds. A standard Sandisk will do if you're not too worried about a few seconds extra loading here & there. If you have the money though, why not go for the best?

The main thing to ensure is that the card is SDHC (SD High Capacity) if you're going for more than 4GB.

@AceFromGorillaz My best advice would be to put the SD card into the 3DS & if it's recognised and works.. you're fine. If the 3DS doesn't recognize the SD card you will need to reformat it.

It's not as hard as it might sound, you the card into the PC, right-click the SD card on your "my computer" tab & then select "format device"... I'll give you more help from there if you need it.

sdhc card have evolved so much that going to Amazon and buying a no name 32GB card for $5 will suit your needs just fine, this is one of those times, buying brand doesn't matter

@jhewitt3476 Actually, you do need to be careful with super cheap cards online, there are a lot of fake cards out there which have less than half the memory they claim to... they even say they have 32GB, but only have 1-2GB. It's always worth making sure the seller is reliable when buying storage online.

@DanteSolablood
I have dealt with those companies before, but I have found when looking for cards of 32GB or less, the risk drops to almost 0%, plus i did mention going through Amazon because of their personal policies of it the seller won't take the item back, Amazon will do it themselves, so the safety of your purchase & money is very secure

I speak from years of various purchases on the big 'A', I have had some pretty bad screw ups, but when the seller said screw you on whatever after many calls and/or emails, it usually takes one call to AMZN and problem was solved, I buy lots, but I also purchase 256GB mico sdxc and resell them to Switch owners after testing and properly formatting for $25,
(sorry, can't give away my site), but I'm not advertising anyway, just saying if you're worried to go through them

@jhewitt3476 Ah, my last experience with Amazon was a few years back - a seller never sent the item I'd purchased & Amazon's reply was effectively "ha ha, bad luck". I've had better luck with eBay that have resolved in my favor on all disputes with sellers so far.

past three years I've had several bs sellers I've had to deal with, but Amazon always took care of me, maybe they changed their policies for the better
