@Ralizah I can only think of one game where the S3D "remotely" enhances gameplay, and that is Mario 3D Land. Even then, it can be perfectly playable even without S3D. I like the S3D but it is only use is eye candy, i.e. it's a Gimmick.
The 3ds has completely taken over as my gaming system of choice. It started off slow but boy has it stepped it up in my opinion. I enjoy almost everything it has to offer, Streetpass, Swapnote, 3D, 3ds Sound and Activity Log. The Eshop is also starting to gather a library of great games aside from the awesome list of retail games. Plenty of love for the 3ds from me, lol, "gimmick" and all
I was lucky, because Star Fox 64 3D had just released by the time I bought it. That and some virtual console titles got be through the initial software drought, and it has been bliss ever since.
Sadly enough, the 3DS gets too much love, and for the wrong reasons.
It has 3D, but it add very little to the gameplay, and some games look even worst in 3D.
The eShop, Nintendo does a god job of sucking people to buy games that only last a day to finsh, and pass them off as if they are must haves.
From what I seen, the PSVita starts looking better everyday, just look at games like Tearaway
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Open question: does the 3D enhance the gaming experience for you, or is it just something to attract attention to the system but which has no practical value?
It got me to give the console another look on launch day. But after the initial boot up and having to set in 3D mode, I generally keep it off. If I had to just toss out an estimation of the amount of time it's been on in active 3D mode (meaning the slider could be anywhere from 5% to 100%), I'd wager about an hour in about two years. It's usually on for about thirty seconds when I get a new game.
Wait. I did leave it longer while I watched an episode of Shaun the Sheep.

It has good games on it, the horizon is just relatively bare in terms of major releases. I hope that improves. I really do like the Vita.
I adore 3D. I suppose it doesn't do anything to enhance the gameplay, but games simply look so much better with it on, IMO.
Games like Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, Mutant Mudds, Zen Pinball 3D, & Mighty Switch Force! look absolutely stunning in 3D. It's still a nice enough graphical boost for me to use it even in games where it isn't implemented well, such as Tales of the Abyss.
Honestly, unless it gives you headaches, or you're not in a place where you can keep it charged, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use it.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Professor Layton looks simply divine in 3D. I feel like I'm looking into another world when I play that game. Paper Mario: Sticker Star is probably the most impressive 3D I've seen on the system, though. It's just... wow.
I almost never play my games in 2D unless I'm worried about saving power. I never enjoy 3D in movies, but wow, is it cool on this handheld!

The one area I differ from you, is in your opinion about 3D in movies.
I saw Jurassic Park 3D last night, and thought it was awe inspiring. As cool as 3D is on the 3DS, it's much more pronounced on the big screen (it was like seeing the movie for the first time, all over again).
I personally forget that I'm even wearing glasses after a few minutes, but I can understand why some people don't want to deal with them.

Though 3D doesn't add much in terms of gameplay, neither do most visual enhancements of video games over the years. It seems silly that people harp on 3D being useless because it doesn't add to gameplay. Neither do HD graphics. They make games look better, sure, but they hardly make gameplay better.
And that's why I'm a big fan of a lot of the 3D I've seen on the system--it makes the games look better to me. That's just a personal preference. I fully understand people who don't feel it adds anything to the experience, but it adds a very nice visual enhancement for me and many others. I have the 3D on about 95% of the time. I'm glad I'm not one of the unlucky ones who gets headaches from it.
The 3DS has given me a lot of entertainment in the 2+ years I've had it. It's up there with my favorite consoles of all time.
@RR529 I agree about 3D being great in movies as well. If done right, 3D adds a lot to the theater experience. Really helps me get me into the movie even more. Avatar's story may have been weak, but the 3D and visuals in that movie were stunning to me. Prometheus is another example of 3D absorbing me into the experience.

I have two problems with movie 3D.
1) The glasses make the screen darker, which I don't like.
2) I already wear glasses, so having to wear a pair of glasses OVER my pair of glasses is a pain.
Jurassic Park 3D was pretty cool, though. I wonder how much they touched up the special effects? The movie still looks really amazing today. The only way you can tell just how dated it actually is is by the computer technology in the movie.
