I doubt you love KIU as much as I do.

yeah I probably don't love the game as much as you, but I like teasing people and really love that game but for me it might lose to some Kirby games due to nostalgia....

I really liked this game and it felt like it defined what the 3DS can do. It was a good showcase for how Spotpass, Streetpass, Online Multiplayer and 3D worked on the 3DS. I would recommend this title to be one of the first for people, getting it after playing others may damage the perception of the game.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I really liked it. The main complaint the majority you speak of has is the controlls, and some might not like the humour.

I belong to the group of people who had no complaints about the controls. I loved the game!

I'm mixed on it. I thought it was quite long (I certainly don't understand the idea that it was somehow short), the multiplayer is addicting, and there is a boatload of extras (Idols, weapons, etc).

On the other hand, there is the controls. As a lefty, I can't play it in long sessions, and I actually think the left handed option (AXBY) is even worse. It's not a bad game, but the control issues keep it from being one of my favorites.

I would've loved this game so much more if 99% of the levels were 80% shorter.

It rivals FE:A as my favorite 3DS game, and in this game the voice acting was actually entertaining, rather then a bunch of bullcorn "HUH!? Hmm... Umm..."s. The graphics and music were both great.

The controls were perfectly fine once you got used to them, and they matched the ridiculously fast gameplay well. My main problem is why the hell would you let someone aim with the face buttons but not the CPP? That's just stupid.

I liked it enough to want a sequel (regardless of what Sakurai says, he retracted his Melee statement). There needs to be more Dark Pit storyline, there needs to be more Pit/Viridi conversation (I don't support shipping EVER but apparently this was canon), and THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE MAGNUS/OTHER CHICK STORY.

And most importantly, there needs to be more/bigger multiplayer maps. I understand that it was thrown together last minute, but there was a serious lack of variety.

This is a signature.

Well the simple stuff first: Graphics are great, music is great, presentation is great. Actually quite liked the general tone (ie. not taking itself seriously, breaking the fourth wall, characters constantly bantering throughout). I think they did a good job with the character. Maybe it was a bit too goofy for some, but he is, after all, a kid, so I'm glad they didn't make him some brooding tough-guy. One thing that did puzzle me was the massive emphasis on weapons, weapon upgrades, weapon management, etc. They seemed to have put so much effort into designing all those weapons and the whole weapon system, but it didn't seem like the sort of game where that was at all necessary. Most of them hardly seemed any different.

And now onto the controls... Ah yes, well without the stand, I would say they are absolutely awful, bringing back horrible memories of the agonizingly uncomfortable Metroid Prime Hunters. However, to be fair, the stand is a Godsend and does make them bearable, but they're still not very good compared to most games. What I don't understand is, why can't you just simply aim in the direction you're moving (as in StarFox)? Surely that would solve the problem? Why do movement and aiming need to be independent of each other if it's going to cause such problems? Admittedly that might be trickier in the on-foot sections, but if an enemy is above you, you could just stop moving, hold a button and then use the circle pad to aim (as in GC Metroid Prime and many others).

fixed for you("the other chick" is called Gaol) and highlighted the most important part!

To me, with the voice acting, it felt like I was in a cartoon, and that was awesome. I have not experienced any other game that gave me quite the same feeling that Kid Icarus: Uprising gave me.

I personally think it's one of the best games on the 3DS. In my personal top 5, anyway. The control issues that many had with it were not something I had trouble with. If anything, I think the game greatly benefitted from having that weird control scheme, since it allowed for snapping to targets at the insane speed you need for the higher difficulties. I also liked the "globe-spinning" thing it had for it, since it meant that my speed of swiping would determine how fast I turned around. It made for something fast, frantic, and wholly unique, and in a way it acknowledged the fact that the game was a bit uncomfortable to play, since it allowed for the player to have some leeway in control. I can't see the game working without this method of control without also having to make it way easier to compensate. The game would not have worked as well with a dual circle pad approach.

There's a ton of content in the game, and there's also a lot of love put into it. That latter aspect is probably the biggest reason why I enjoy it so much. Sakurai's team's care for what they were making really shows.

@WingedFish The only games that have a chance of knocking it off for me is Monster Hunter 4, Zelda Link Between Worlds, or possible Pokemon of which I doubt the latter!

If a sequel was announced today for Uprising it would be my most anticipated game till it came out! Yes I liked it that much!!

It was an above average game for me. The controls were pretty bad. The whole game felt like it was on-rails when it really wasn't.

The dialogue doesn't bother me. Online was ok. I liked how you could unlock alot of stuff, but I'll probably never bother to unlock everything.

Also, I expected the Circle Pad Pro to be dual analog, bit is was actually a left handed alternative. Meh. I'd give it a 7/10.

It's by no means perfect and not as much of an artistic synthesis as the classic 3D Ninty games. The story's good fun, but it never really connected with me. Gameplay wise it is a bit too rough around some edges.
I applaud it for doing something new, replayed it an awful lot and would be very interested in a sequel but if i compare it to RE:R it doesn't really stand a chance. And i didn't like the story of that very much either.

I have to say I disliked it for one important reason: the controls. Playing the game for more than 15 minutes became physically painful for me and the stand wasn't much of a solution.

Controls - Awkward, to say the least. If any game on the system was crying out for dual thumbsticks it was this one.

Graphics - Awesome. This game really showed off what the 3DS was capable of. The 3D effect is also superb. It's still one of the nicer looking games on the system.

Sound - Music fits the scenes perfectly

Story - Alright. More than I expected, to be honest. I like the dark turn toward the end.

Voice-acting - Top notch, and probably my favorite part of the game. Unfortunately, the funny, witty banter kept distracting me from the frenetic action on-screen.

Multiplayer - Very fully-featured, both online and local. Several modes, and it seemed to work very smoothly when I used it.

Replayability - VERY high. Tons of stuff to do and collect in both single and multiplayer modes. The weapon system is awesomely complex.

It does so much right, and yet the game just isn't fun to play due to the controls.

Even after all the heavy hitters this year its still the best 3ds game on the system. Nothing has knocked it off the top for me. As far as the story being short I guess its ones opinion but it has one of the longest stories I've ever seen outside of an rpg. The constant talking throughout was at times some of the funniest I've ever heard and I personally thought the voice acting was top notch! I can see why some didn't like it or had a difficult time with the controls but a lot of good games take time to learn and most people are lazy! Monster Hunter I'm looking at you!! Best presentation yet for any 3ds game. Fire Embelm comes close!!

Has nothing to do with laziness. Video games are primarily about entertainment, and any game with lousy controls isn't going to be very entertaining to most people. It's one of the most important aspects of a game.

Monster Hunter's underwater portion in the demo bordered on unplayable without the CPP. The land segments were doable, but still awkward.

Of course, lousy controls can be a very subjective thing. I've heard people complain about RE:R's controls sans the CPP, and yet I never once felt like I needed an extra circle pad.

I had no problem with the controls, though I can understand why people did.

I had a problem with the constant, irritating voice acting. This is nothing againt the actual performances — which were solid — but I really, truly, genuinely don't need to hear this crap over what felt like every second of gameplay. Please...shut up and let me enjoy the actual game for a while.
