Topic: When you move your 3ds out of position does the screen get distorted really easily?

My screen does and it "hurts" or "feels weird" to look at it..is it the same for you? I use the new 3ds XL

Indicate if you wear glasses or not.

Also indicate what 3ds you use.

I have a N3DS and don't wear glasses.

Testing on my homescreen theme (Sonic, fwiw), if I move the screen in and out, or side to side, the image is very stable with only very minor flicker towards the edge.

If I rotate the screen (i.e. change the viewing angle on either axis) the flickering is stronger, but pretty much still towards the edges with a fairly stable middle.

There's a sweet spot with the system, regardless which version you have, I reckon. The further you move away from the sweet spot the greater the system will struggle to maintain a clean image when you move it around. I often find I'm holding the unit a bit closer to my face than is optimum for the 3D - I guess I've got lazy arms and like to use my chest to support the weight in my hands. But a minor adjustment and I'm all good.

Be interested to see if any iteration of the tech makes it into the NX.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

How about if you tilt it? Thank you for the info, it was really helpful.

@undisocvered7: Tilting = rotating around the x axis in my book, so yeh, as above. Though the flicker is more when I tilt the screen away from my face than if I tilt it toward my face.

okay so specific question here..say in luigi mansion dark moon or in another game if you dont have that one...when you tilt to the right and leave it in that exact position will your screen be blurry or distorted? Sometimes when i tilt it to the right i don't get the sweet spot and it appears blurry or distorted..is it the same for you?

(Im just using right as an example) it happens left too

@undisocvered7: Tilting the screen to the side makes my system struggle for longer as it tries to work out where I've gone and what it's going to do about it (that's my own interpretation of what's going on anyway), the the layers of the 3D picture shift about for a second or so.

The reason it blurs is due to viewing angle limitations of the display technology. If I switch the 3D off and just display a flat image, when I tilt the screen the image loses clarity from my perspective, as happens with many different types of display screen. By turning on the 3D it obviously multiplied the effects of the viewing angle limitations because it's now displaying a multi-layered image - so if it's displaying 3 layers of image then they'll logically be 3 times the loss of clarity, which gives the blurriness. That's my take on it anyway.

When I tilt it and hold it in a that tilted position it remains blurry..it doesnt "adjust". is it the same for you? sorry to be so ocd on that one question

@undisocvered7: Yes, same for me. The images jump around for about 1 second until it settles on how its going to stabilise, but yes, it will always be blurry from an angle using that display technology, I think for the reason I laid out above - looking diagonally through the glass is less clear than looking perpendicular to it.

But I'm talking about a fair amount of tilt here. Tilting by a few degrees is fine, the image adjusts and then presents clearly. I have to tilt mine to a fairly unnatural amount for it to blur. There's no normal reason for me to actually be playing with the screen tilted that much for any significant amount of time.
