I am going with christmas too, but I hope to see some new colors before tales of the abyss comes out as that is when I want to get a 3DS. New colors seem to be released when a sales boost is needed.
Might be announced at E3 for the Christmas Season. More than likely they will have a package deal special for the holidays. Who knows they might even come out with a different color scheme for the release of Zelda: OoT.

Red and Green 3DS's for Christmas. Mario Edition with Mario Kart and Zelda Edition with Ocarina of Time. That'd be nice, though useless to me cause I already have my Black 3DS.
I'm just happy to wait patiently until new colour choices are available, whatever they may be.
Then again, I do already have a 3DS, so I can still get my 3D game on even without a second unit for multiplayer and Pokemon trading yet.
And you're right about the purple looking sweet lockd! I also like the orange one that was shown at E3, plus having red to off-set my blue 3DS would be a nice parallel (Pokemon Red on my blue 3DS and Pokemon Blue on my red 3DS, etc.). I'm also happy with yellow, green or silver, or maybe a dark blue one. I guess the black does look okay as well. But I draw the line at pink...okay, if it's a sweet-looking pink, I may go for it.
Bottom line: my second 3DS could be any other colour. What it is to be will have to wait until new colours become available.

You know, unless you're buying it mostly for a loved one to use, why buy a second 3DS for yourself? Seems like a waste of money to me.

Uh...it would be for friends and family to use during multiplayer, as well as Pokemon trading. Plus, I can have different games on each console as well.

the only way I would ever buy another 3ds for color (I love my aqua blue one) is if they made an exclusive Zelda version. I missed out on all the past "Zelda edition" handhelds by nintendo.

I know right? I love my black one, and the blue one is alright, but I still prefer the solid colored one.
